NPR filled me in.
There was an underwater volcanic eruption that caused a temporary spike in the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere and this problem will go away once it precipitates back out again. Nothing to worry about! 🤓
for the first time ever earth has exhibited geothermic activity, and it won't happen again of course
