It was not ok taking the site down as a joke

Gossip posts go in c/gossip. Don't post low-hanging fruit here after it gets removed from c/gossip
What was the origin of the joke? I swear I was there for it, I just can't remember why they did it
On the old Chapo subreddit, the sub was made private for like a day or something as a bit. A very angry person made a lengthy text post that was titled something like "Closing the Sub as a Bit Was NOT Ok"
Yeah that's what I remember, the part I was missing was from someone else who commented that they did it because they reached 42069 or 69420 members. I mean I knew it was something ridiculous but I forgot it was THAT ridiculous. Those were the days
Yeah, that place still had a bit of the reddit stench on it, but its heyday was probably the most active I was on that web-site. So many great posters.
I miss aspects of it sometimes, but the community here is so much better.
We purged all the transphobes, patsocs, succdems and stupidpol types
Yup! Love it!
Didn't it have something to with avengers too?
Maybe in the comments? It got pretty wacky in there. The OP I think was mostly saying that it was debilitating to the members of the community that were part of vulnerable communities to close a subreddit for a day.
Closing the subreddit at 69,420 subscribers as a joke was not ok
the original subreddit went private at 69420 or 42069 members iirc
Haha that's right, thanks
