Six Labor MPs including assistant minister Ged Kearney want their government to change its decision not to include gender identity and sexuality in the census.

Labor frontbenchers have said the decision was made to avoid a "divisive" debate but the MPs say the government should stick to the principle in Labor's national platform.

Nope. That's been around since the 60s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Broadcasting_Corporation#Lissajous_curve_logo

You might be mistaking the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for the American one.

Easy mistake to make. The A(ustralian)BC actually predates the A(merican)BC by about a decade!

I would have thought that references to the “Labor Party” and “MPs” (things that do not exist in the USA) was a pretty big hint that this story wasn’t American.
