I'll note that in the US, their urban area definition includes a lot of outlying and substantially unpopulated areas which fall within county boundaries; these areas tend to show up as having long travel times to services.

Tbh I come from a 15min city and it is pretty great. My entire childhood I planned everything by bike, 15 min.

Walking to elementary school, cycling to highschool, going to different sports locations, cinema, train to the city, village to some friends, shopping at an organic market (conventional ones are very nearby).

This is a smaller city in Germany, peripheral to a large one. So nothing crazy really.
