Yeah and I relate to why people do it. The comment also explains with nicer words than those I possess that it is unhinged language or whatever you want to call it.
I have not said any of those things.
Fair, and sorry for assuming, then. I think you get where I'm coming from with it- yes, it's a lame joke (and I don't think I've ever even said it myself) but the people who cry about it are infinitely more annoying and (actually, unlike those making the joke) genuinely ignorant IMO
It depends on the person doing the crying and why for me, but most often I agree with you because it's some dumbass lemmitor going on about civility. I do remember we had users unironically arguing that 6 million germans should have been murdered in retaliation for the holocaust and it would have been good if Frankfurts water supply had been poisoned by that zionist in the 50's. I've seen people say they want an unironic white genocide or that they actually unironically think all [nationality] people should be killed. Not as in "abolish the concept of" no just killed.
I think part of the reason those users don't stop and think "whoa I think genocide is good" was because of how widespread "rhetoric"/jokes were at one point. It's around the time when I see unironic calls for genocide that I cry about it. Normally I just shrug my shoulders and move on because I find the joke to be tired and the user is speaking in jest.
True, can't claim I've seen those posts (haven't been on Hexbear that long either, came from the grad) but I suppose they exist. And it is a good point that people with not enough self-awareness (or who just have had enough at a moment) will take those jokes and maybe run with it- not that they can or will do anything with it unlike the reverse, but it is an issue.
I know of that Zionist you're talking about and- well, yeah, it was unjustified as such wholly indiscriminate attacks always are. In their specific case and that of anyone who'd have survived what they did I can't quite blame them for feeling or even acting that way (though they had to be stopped). Feeling the sheer amount of anger and even hate is a natural human response when seeing the west behaving like the west always has, even without experiences comparable to theirs (granted theirs were very extreme) I find myself feeling such things and often consciously reel myself back sometimes and control my words well (and try and generally succeed, minus bitterness, with my thoughts), and certainly don't let it affect how I treat or see individuals.
Yeah I've been on here way too much for way too long. It's been a while since I've seen it too. People seem to have cooled off a bit after federation.
I completely relate and agree. People were calling for it now though, which was wack. They were also arguing that it would have been right to do, not as in understandable or even justified, but as the morally correct thing to do. It's been a long while though. I still see some people do these things unironically once in a blue moon, but the site culture has thankfully changed to one that calls it out instead of cheers it on - most of the time.
