The site is named after a fascist flag, so not surprising

According to CNET, the actual reason for the name is:

Dorsey confirmed a Bluesky user's speculation that the name ties in to Twitter's bird mascot, the idea being the bird could fly even more freely in an open blue sky.

The only thing I can think of is the Ukraine flag ukkkraine, which I believe represents a field of wheat under a blue sky, such as in this image from Kherson Oblast:

It seems like a stretch to me that the site is named after the Ukrainian flag specifically. The symbolism of blue skies is much more universal than that.

I agree, I'm not convinced the Ukrainian flag has anything to do with it either unless Dorsey said something beyond this that I wasn't aware of.

It's the only thing that I could think of that @SkingradGuard@hexbear.net might have meant.

iirc named after the RoC blue sky and sun flag, glorification of the KMT.
