Honestly, considering the warhawks already announced for the Trump cabinet, even Biden leaving isn't a guarantee the government doesn't press that button anytime soon.

I do think Trump will wind down Ukraine, but we'll probably see an escalation with China instead. Most of the hawks he picked are China hawks.

Yeah, that's a fair point. History is definitely happening a lot lately, someone should probably tell Fukuyama about it.
