Yeah i have found that a lot of the frustrations about soft sciences come from my last point, well intentioned people trying to do experiments that we simply dont yet have the tools to perform as well as they need to be. interesting about the career path! i am not super closely familiar with the field so itEs always interesting to hear where people end up!

there is cultural inertia and systemic racial biases that encourage its use in psychology as well. we agree it's not useful individually, but it's also not useful for populations, as it doesnt measure the things it is regularly and pervasively used to represent. even moreso iq at a population level is absolutely rife with cultural and systemic biases that make it easy to mistest even for those very well informed and well intentioned. We simply dont have models of intelligence mature enough to do this sort of intelligence metricising. Just because someone can envision an experiment or useful pursuit doesn't mean there are tools necessary to perform it adequately.

it is set at a median of 100 regularly, and is not actually a good measure of anything remotely useful. its use in social sciences is extremely problematic. dont worry about some number, just be.

iq isnt even any of theose things, it's incredibly contested as a metric for anything and a waste of time at best to concern yourself with.

netflix had no input on the show as riot entirely bankrolled it. this was certainly not a "game of thrones'd" situation, the quality didnt drop anywhere within compare for that.

nah it's actually pretty low, toothpaste isnt in your mouth for a huge amount of time and it needs to be a certain level of nontoxic for edibility. this is why dentists still do fluoride soaks. the fluoride in the water also accumulates in and hardens bones a bit, though not a ton.

[-] Umbrias@beehaw.org 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

yes fluoride diffuses into enamel and chemically and mechanically hardens it. this effect is strongly linked to better dental outcomes for children and adults. also, tons of places actually remove fluoride to the needed levels because it is naturally higher.

i have and will continue to suggest you are trolling mr reply guy. reread your participation here, and tell me again im just adding noise. cheers

ahhh one of those "why did you invest low effort in responding to my low effort trolling" folks. It's not my job to educate everyone arguing in bad faith (or in blatantly incoherent ways if not in bad faith) about the thing they claim to know about. if you want that i recommend putting in the effort to be less entirely hostile to someone who gave you a pretty matter of fact rebuttal to your very low effort concern trolling. Otherwise, ask some questions. actually engage. eduction is a two way street but your side of it appears to be blockaded and actively hostile.

also like, at least skim a wikipedia page or something?

im not sure you know what you're arguing against based on this response tbh
