What's funny is I own this game already and it's in my top three yet the strategy is so deep I hadn't even considered this until now! Now that you mention it though it is light and takes up little space, the actions are practically displayed on the tiles, and despite not having perfect information you'd have enough information to deduce what the best move would be while still having enough randomness that an inexperienced player has the ability to make a "comeback". This game just keeps getting better lol

Ideally it wouldn't require a large playing area, but I am open to all options as long as it's portable.

Also, you have reminded me of Onitama which somehow didn't come to mind while thinking of games to match my description. It seems to be the perfect game in terms of strategic content, since the randomization provides minimal edge to an experienced player but it maintains all the strategy and perfect information.

Fox in the Forest is definitely a good option, and I'm interested in Arboretum but from what I've gathered it can be a lot to take in at first. I have yet to play it but from videos it seems like the rules are quite simple but the scoring (which is what you play to optimize) can be a bit to wrap your head around. It's been a while so I might be misremembering, do you think it would be easy enough to explain quickly?

Ninjan looks really neat! After reading through replies I'm starting to consider having maybe a few games I rotate out, some more strategic and others simpler more social games. Ninjan is definitely getting added to that list.

There have been many protests even before the stock market issues. Even before Trump was elected there were protests across the nation at college campuses representing Palestinians. Even my very politically inactive university had enough students feel strongly enough to protest. Just because you’re not seeing them, or looking for them, doesn’t mean protests weren’t happening.

In addition to ignorance, Khalil had legal citizenship which makes him a US citizen ☠️. So much for “we love immigrants as long as they’re legal”!

Maybe I’m the outlier but I have always failed to see chat history being very important. Realistically when is the last time you’ve combed through chat histories and why? If it’s to look for important information you can just write down the important parts and the rest is useless. I’m not trying to be elitist or anything I’m just genuinely curious hoping someone can explain this to me.

There are plenty of record breaking games that have released while the industry has been “filled with activists.” Many of them are even about politics, like Helldivers 2.

One of these will make the news and one wouldn't. If the goal of a protest is to spread awareness and draw attention, going to where politicians live will probably get you a restraining order and a cozy ride in the back of a police vehicle and the protest will likely go unnoticed.

Not saying these types of protests are not necessary or unhelpful! I'm just saying that, in order to draw the most attention to your cause, you inconvenience daily lives. Those are the things that make headlines and viral posts, not a secluded protest on private property.
