in the announcement post for this, i lacked critical information regarding the mods. the modpack being used is Create Extra, which appears to be mostly performance, minor aesthetic, and QOL mods. it shouldn’t result in a performance decrease compared to vanilla

if you want to check out the mods contained in the modpack, here is a link

so again, the options are vanilla+ (server-side mods only) or modded (server- and client-side mods)

an-tifa for vanilla+

bridget for modded

voting will end Monday, Aug 5 at 5 PM UTC (1 PM EST)

sorry for the confusion shy

also this server will be pirate-friendly

If we're gonna do modded I think it would be better to make our own pack -- and it would be a crime to use a Create-based pack that doesn't have this in it

[-] Edie@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

I have begun making my own modpack based on create extra. With this in it (and currently quite a few mods from CE removed)

authoritarian mods simply holding new elections when they disagree with the outcome of the first smh my head

There are some things about this modpack though: 1. ~~Its using a create fork that has been archived.~~ 2. Spark isn't useful. 3. ~~Overall it seems half a year out of date.~~

~~I almost want to make my own updated version of this.~~

Edit: ah, this is a better link https://modrinth.com/modpack/create-extra/version/1.5.5

bridget

also noticed the modpack doesn't have a magic option, which might turn people off as the magic/tech divide is very real in modded. but if no one cares then no biggie

an-tifa

The modpack doesn't look bad though, it's the really technical stuff I can never wrap my head around that I end up checking out on. I think that's why I didn't play much on the previous modded server if at all.

[-] buckykat@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

[-] ZoomeristLeninist@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago
[-] buckykat@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

I just absolutely cannot stand creeper explosions breaking things

[-] ZoomeristLeninist@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

yeah, me neither

[-] Starlet@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

mobGriefing false makes it so villagers can't farm and piglins can't pick up gold. I wish it just stopped creepers and endermen from working, but it's rather detrimental

[-] EelBolshevikism@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

there are numerous explosion-only mobgriefing mods afaik

:an-tifa:

im on linux, not sure I can be bothered to find the time to install a modpack (...ok, I will, but I'd rather not...)

[-] Ciel@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 month ago

Just use Prism Launcher, makes modpacks as easy to install as vanilla.

Mods, in all their forms, subvert the artist's intention, particularly this artist posting right now. No mods.

an-tifa

[-] buckykat@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

The artist's intention for minecraft sucks though

[-] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

I was just trying to make a spinoff of a "no mods, no masters" joke

[-] RION@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

hey don't speak about Hatsune Miku like that

[-] buckykat@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

Minecraft is much like Bethesda games in that it is a bad game which can be turned into a good game by a combination of mods and console commands

the artist's intentions can eat my pig poop balls

[-] buckykat@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

bridget bridget even more mods than that

[-] Deinonychus@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

given the current options i would probably go with an-tifa but if we do go with modded, i would rather that we make our own modpack instead of using a premade one
