Edit: I didn't realize I'd receive pushback on ideas I can't defend. Better find a way to be condescending to save face during my cowardly exit.

Biden can just force a ceasefire any time he wants by just telling Israel he'll cut off funding and arms and intel.

And if they don't listen and try to do their thing (genocide) anyways while being completely cut off for months and months, well that will be when it might be okay to say "genocide Joe did eventually try to rein it in a little".

This is like 90% of AI companies. They promise an automation to get investment, IP claims, etc, but then actually use a ton of global south labor to run it. They usually try to actually build the tech but there's not much pressure because the cheap overseas labor option does actually function, albeit without the savings they promised.

Both of those are very active projects that require an embedding in community, particularly a community that is going to be around for a while.

Most left groups in the US make no attempt whatsoever to build within and among a community. Many of the seeming exceptions get rerouted into a charity pipeline. They might call it mutual aid but it tends to be structured as charity with the money and labor coming from outside the community to simply provide a service for the most destitute inside the community, plus other little telltale signs. There is little work done to radicalize, incorporate, learn from the community itself, including the whole community, not just those deemed worthy of charity.

The other challenge is that communities are in transition. You try to set up shop somewhere and maybe 10 years later it's an entirely new set of people due to increased property values + increased cost of living + stagnant paychecks. To me this means you can't half-ass it, as you're going to need to create a resilient network that can move and connect across the new places people need to live and work.

But to me the main issue is that groups don't even really try in the first place. Sometimes this is even for ideological reasons.

The President is always conveniently powerless when he's doing terrible things. His hand is forced! What a shame. Alas. Shucks.

October 2024 rolls around: MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION OF YOUR LIFETIME DEFEAT THE RIGHT WING.

Anyways electoral reform ain't gonna do shit, only revolution will solve the problem, which is capitalism. You can attempt (and usually fail) to fiddle with the technocratic dials all you'd like, just like most constitutional amendments did, just like little state level voting reforms did, and guess what: the country will still be dictated by crises of capitalism and its imposed necessities to produce and reproduce the system. Very few of the problems are new. At their core is the dictatorship we put up with for over 1/3 of our days and that creates harsh guard rails on what is possible.

Biden is a particularly cruel captain of the team, but you're not gonna fix the ship. It needs to be destroyed and utterly changed.

Bunch of DSA chapters walking back their statements of solidarity with Palestine because they're little pissbabies that can't handle the pushback.

The uneven ratios in those top three are due to massive populations of second class immigrant laborers, often slave laborers.

Look at all of the brigading of hexbear in this thread! And by that I mean folks in other instances participating in a thread that was probably on their front page. Can you imagine!?

Counterpoint: I'm a huge baby.

Didn't think of that one, did ya, pinko!?

As usual, liberals just use different words when they like some vs. when they don't. When they don't like it? Brigading! When they do? Just raising concerns, I hate those red fash tankies.

PS they are envious of our knack for a self-organized united front.

Bruh you've gotta use vague signals and let the think tanks work with journalists to manufacture consent first.
