China has a lock on the supply of certain elements that are essential to making such things as military drones, consumer electronics and battery-powered vehicles.

“Some companies have maybe 40 to 60 days of stock left,” said Zoe Oysul, a senior policy analyst at SAFE, a group that advocates for U.S. energy and supply-chain security.

But propping up new supply chains is cumbersome and costly. It will take 10 to 15 years before a robust supply chain that excludes China can be fully developed ...

While the materials are crucial, they are needed in only small amounts, and the profit margins for companies that sell them are thin. The mines and processing facilities involved in their production can be heavily polluting. It was an industry the U.S. was happy to offshore to China decades ago.

China’s government is projecting confidence that it can outlast the U.S. in a protracted trade war in large part because of the potential damage inflicted by its restrictions on rare-earth metals ... “Beijing does not feel like it is going to back down and that the U.S. is in no position to dictate terms."

there's different camps, and party lines imo has nothing to do with it. the neoliberal types (more and more modern AI techbro fucks) want to privatize functions of the government for themselves. others just want to right-wing libertarian destroy everything that rich people don't need.

they forgot about the "riot tax" but they'll be reminded soon enough the more and more they squeeze people.

don't ever forget too: the Clinton administration destroyed welfare more than any administration ever. hell, the senate democrats voted for the house republican's spending bill just last month.

ofc not. the Trump admin doesn't even know what it wants.

USA's vassal state Japan, AS SOON AS TARIFFS were announced, put together an economy/negotiating team and got their ass straight to Washington.

they sat around, said over and over again "WHAT DO YOU WANT FFS?????" with the Trump team making no demands or anything.

it's linked here. feels like Bush/Project for a New American Century.

his treasury secretary wrote this back in October too: https://archive.ph/IYXLe

seems like: crash the market, negotiate individually, new trade deals guaranteeing permanent/ongoing softening of the US Dollar.

i also appreciate all the user's providing analysis of what's going on other than "trump bad" or "trump insane." other than this site, the internet has mostly been a useless pile of shit this past week.

the real marketing is the marketing they do to their bosses or clients, not to the consumers

remember back in 2010 whatever when that graphic designer convinced pepsi execs to pay them $15 whatever million to redo the pepsi logo and they just made it all wavey, sold a BS sale pitch about it's like the globe now, and ended up writing a blog post laughing their asses off at it? you love to see it.

just saw something from Devs:

We're changing our game's name to 'Infestation: Origins'. Our game, "Infestation 88" is set in the 1980s with the year 1988 chosen simply due to its symmetrical design in the game's artwork/logo. Unfortunately, we were unaware of any additional meanings the number 88 has. However, after learning about this, we're changing the game's name to "Infestation: Origins." We apologize for our ignorance on this and appreciate that this was brought to our attention so we could address it ASAP!

yah. ok...

APEC is not a cabal brainwashing otherwise Nobel Christian politicians. US politicians support Israel because they're colonial politicians and Israel is our colony. APEC exists because lobbying is how power is exercised in the US, but if we had patronage instead, APEC' functions would be carried our by a governor or an ambassador or whatever.

i'm surprised no one is mentioning the weird "APEC" mention....

friend, with respect, you are struggling to be persuasive on this point. it's AIPAC, not APEC. it's a bummer you don't understand this and leads me to believe you don't really understand how powerful and psychotic AIPAC actually is.

AIPAC is, easily, the most powerful lobby in the USA. It's paired with an Israeli spy/plant network that literally litters the entire government apparatus in the USA. It is the primary reason why America is so betrothed to Israel. All of your points about state planning, ally in the middle east, destabilization, securities corporate interests, etc. all have serious persuasive effect, but we can seriously almost just start and stop at AIPAC to understand the US's relationship with Israel

Great book by Mearsheimer called Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy written 2008. I imagine it needs to be updated heavily given Citizens United, others. You can probably poke around on YT a bit too I'm sure people have covered the power of AIPAC.

i appreciated this post though. all of the other points you made are good to be reminded about / reinforced to not equate jews/judaism with the psychotic israeli government's foreign policy / us alliance with same.
