wanna chat about it?
I agree with most others that this is a huge mistake, if only for moving to .world. Another larger community being on that instance sounds like a bad idea for the lemmy ecosystem, even if you wanted to move from blahaj.zone. I will continue to post and browse on 196, but if I start to feel unwelcome there, I will make it known.
The problem is that you're creating more work for yourself, even if you're as on top of moderation as you were here. If you get the additional reach that you're hoping for, you'll have to work much quicker at removing shit content than you did here. Now that 196 isn't on the openly queer instance, more bigots will feel like they can interact. This could lead to the community becoming less accepting in the long run, as queer people feel less safe and welcomed.
I have thick skin and often run towards conflicts other people won't, but I know that many users here aren't like me. If I start to feel it weighing on me, be confident that things have gone too far for most people on this instance.
A jack of all trades, but master of none...
Is often times better than a master of one :)
You are smart! You just probably have ADHD. I used to feel the same way, but I eventually realized that I really don't think like others. My approximate knowledge is limited, but I can still leverage it to actually have advantages compared to others.
For context, this is a Chinese social media platform called "RedNote," aka Xiaohongshu which literally means "Little Red Book." Apparently TikTok users have begun to migrate there in protest of the TikTok ban. I'd imagine there are Chinese government astroterfing efforts to boost the campaign (assuming it didn't start in China).
However, the ban was such a foolish move by Democrats in the first place, that I'd be happy if Xiaoshongshu gains traction. The TikTok ban was one of many out of touch moves by the Democrats that got us a fascist dictatorship. The government will probably use the same law to ban this app too, and for all his support of TikTok now, I doubt Trump will stop that from happening. If populist leftists are smart, they will distance themselves from the ban and the nationalist libs who pushed for it.
As much as TikTok did allow invasive spying and manipulation by China, the billionaires of this country do worse. No need to defend TikTok or China; we just need to refocus the issue as a distraction from the class conflict that centralized social media inherently suppresses. Centralized platforms in China work exactly the same way, so it's not like Americans being allowed to interact with Chinese citizens is all bad. Maybe Americans will introduce marginal dissent while the government allows us in temporarily (unlikely, but their government isn't all powerful or anything)
Conservatives desperately want us to be shunned and excluded; tirelessly do everything in their power to keep us from being "normal."
If they refuse to accept a world with us in it, then there is no world for anybody. If they want to force us out, society will reflect their naked brutality and chaos. They will never win because we will never stop existing, no matter how much they try to exterminate us. We exist in the fabric of every culture, every nation, and every family. All they can accomplish is temporary evil, because they can never win. It's in the nature of conservatism to lose.
There is no safety. No matter how wealthy you are, your house can be destroyed. No matter how much you diversify your portfolio, the economy could crash and send you back to square one. No matter what private army you pay, forces beyond your control can crush you like a bug.
Humans do not rule the world, and under capitalism, we don't even rule ourselves. We're ruled by profit motives more than any rich individual. No matter how much Musk or Trump try to play king, they're merely mortals riding the wave of economics and politics. We have no real gods, only chaos; no real masters, only thugs and bullies
Honey always seemed fishy. What's the tldr on what they were actually up to?
We never hated masculinity or strength in men; in fact, it's what many women are attracted to. We just want that strength to be used to fight FOR us, not to oppress and exploit us. The men who bully others when they think we can't fight back are pathetic cowards, because every fucking time they see any resistance, they run for the hills.
Luigi attacked a member of the oligarchy; a mass murderer with the blessing of the state. He did not do the easy thing, but the hardest. The fucker that wrote this sees "woke feminists" as inherently pacifists, knowing only a history that whitewashed suffragette terrorists and Black Panthers. They think we just hate men, when even some Sapphic women find men like Luigi hot for killing nobility.
We are not frustrated with most men because it's "politically acceptable," but because so many of them are pathetic cowards. Grow some balls and fight the powerful instead of the weak!
Edit: duplicate word and autocorrect fix
AI plagiarism wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for intellectual copyright and capitalism. Ironically, the status quo of AI art being public domain is absolutely based, as the fruits of our stolen labor belong to us. The communists and anarchists should totally make nonprofit AI art that nobody is allowed to own. Reclaiming AI would be awesome!
Unfortunately, tech bros want to enslave all artists along with the rest of the workers, so they'll rewrite copyright law to turn AI into their exclusive property. It'll be an exception with no justification besides "greed=good"
"I'd vore you"
This is total BS! Every modern movie with good practical effects uses CGI. Even movies like Top Gun Maverick, which get marketed on their impressive practical stunts, replace almost everything in the shot with CGI. Even if everything is covered up with CGI, the practical footage helps VFX artists make the CGI look real.
There's also how things are designed to mesh with audience expectations of how reality looks. Sometimes what looks realistic, isn't actually realistic. This happens with CGI, it happens with practical effects, and it happens with writing. I've heard critiques made for decisions that track better than what people expect. It's all an illusion, at every step of the process. Violence cannot be used non-lethally; modern VFX always incorporates computer generated effects.
It's not only cheaper to do things this way, it's more ethical/safe, AND it looks better. People don't have to get injured or die, animals don't need to be harmed, and you get to see shit that couldn't be done before computers. Saying "instead of CGI" disregards the labor of artists, when 9/10 times, time constraints and poor upper management are to blame.
why wait? 😁
