I'm gonna suggest that for the fediverse here we might want to implement rules that decreases the amount of AI generated crap as it's just useless and adds garbage that most people scroll past to get the posts and content that we actually want

The entirety of the current AI craze just reminds me of the GDC talk: 1,500 Slot Machines Walk into a Bar: Adventures in Quantity Over Quality

I edited this post to update the link, not sure why but the crosspost didn't work properly using the original fedia.io link on Voyager

@Ooops@feddit.org @haroldstork@lemm.ee
Thank you for your LVM on LUKS suggestion!
I was able to get it to work with GRUB and now it works in the same way as systemd where only 1 password input is required🤗

What I found to work is creating 3 partitions:

  1. [p0] boot
  2. [p1] EFI
  3. [p2] Root [LVM on LUKS]

after encrypting and creating the required volumes on p2,

  • I formatted both p0 and p1 as FAT32
  • formatted rootvol as Btrfs
    • mount rootvol to /mnt
      • mount p0 to /mnt/boot
        • mount p1 to /mnt/boot/efi

Now that the base system is done I'm working on a Detached LUKS USB system to further optimize for security after in which I'd be satisfied in knowing that if others use it they'll most likely be safe from most security hazards

I tried searching prior to me asking here, the best I could find was: https://old.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/sej9no/configure_sddm_to_show_password/

https://forum.manjaro.org/t/login-screen-no-longer-has-show-password-icon-in-password-form-text-box/78041

Unfortunately the SDDM page on Archlinux is devoid of any solutions to this so I thought someone here might know better.

And for clarification I'm looking to modify SDDM to show the reveal password button during the first chance users have to input in their password. This is the same button that appears on the right-hand side of the password box during an incorrect attempt.

Linux kernel 6.12 is one of the most significant releases of the year, delivering a feature nearly 20 years in the making: true real-time computing.

If you're reading this congrats!🎉

I dunno, $700/month for a shitbox doesn't seem like a good deal, sleeping in the car sounds far more reasonable at this point unfortunately

hmm they claim it's open source but their repo:
This organization has no public repositories.

I'd advise against preordering unless you understand and you're ok with taking the leap of faith that is tied with preorders~

[-] recursive_recursion@lemmy.ca 122 points 1 month ago

Unsurprising given that their repo's license was a contradictory mess

Anyways I'd recommend using Strawberry instead

It's an actual Free and Open Source music player:

This is absolutely insane
My condolences to all Windows 11 users.

It's becoming common knowledge that:

  • It's not a matter of if but when will xyz service/application be breached and what are the potential damages it could do to me and others?

"I assume every online service is not if; it's when is it going to be breached? Right? So I operate under that assumption, that everything is going to be breached at some point. And so that's why Recall was so scary to me where it's like, I don't care how secure they say it is, like you look at Spectre and Meltdown no one thought these things were going to affect millions of CPUs and here we are, right?

This was not unexpected as Facebook has history of poor moderation and deliberate spread of misinformation.

If you're an instance owner or admin you might want to consider again defederating from Threads and joining the Fedipact

at this point, masking up in public provides protections for both health and privacy reasons
