Emma Alves is an "experimental R&B" artist from Vancouver, Canada

I like her calm sleepy style. The song 'The Gardener' is new to me, and the other songs from the album have been out for a few weeks. I may have posted about them in the past.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rezz

Isabelle Rezazadeh (born 28 March 1995), who is known by her stage name Rezz (stylized in all caps), is a Ukrainian–Canadian DJ and record producer from Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Rezz is an electronic music producer and DJ; her sound has been described as "midtempo bass" and a modern styling of "new beat".[1] In 2015, MTV called her the "new queen of the dark techno scene", writing she had been "making electronic and techy beats for two years" at that point.[3] EDM.com's Niko Sani wrote Rezz's "deliciously ominous, often alien-sounding bass music" helped gain her popularity within the electronic music scene in around 2016.[54] Other music writers have referred to Rezz's music as sounding "dark",[55] as well as "menacing", "mechanical", "haunting and industrial".[56] Spotify's outlet For the Record profiled Rezz, calling her "one of the most highly regarded producers of downtempo soundscapes", and saying she "strikes a firm balance between minimal original tech compositions and the all-heavy bass"

I loved Wolf Castle's other album, 'Waiting for the Dawn'. Stephen Hero is new to me.

https://www.wolfcastle.ca/

Wolf Castle is an Indigenous rapper, producer and singer from Pabineau First Nation, New Brunswick.

https://www.conservationcouncil.ca/community-engaged-art/featured-artist-stephen-hero/

Stephen Hero (Matthew Elliot) makes raw, working-class hip hop from Canada’s east coast. His style is influenced by alt-rap legends like Kool Keith and MF DOOM, with a strong penchant for the relaxed and joyous experimentation of groups like De La Soul and Beastie Boys, but with a contemporary feel.

Here is the 3rd EP from Los Angeles, California jazz rap/trap group Coast Contra consisting of RioLoz, Eric Jamal & Ras Kass’ twin children Taj Austin & Ras Austin. Their debut album Apt. 505 in the spring of 2022 received significant acclaim & their debut EP The Old Way the next fall, coming off being featured on Masta Ace & Talib Kweli’s latest albums Richmond Hill & The Confidence of Knowing respectively followed by the Austin twins’ appearance on Kamasi Washington’s 5th album Fearless Movement a year ago. Marco Polo produced my favorite EP of theirs yet In Case You Forgot at the start of 2025 & The 5th has arrived on DSPs after being exclusive to EVEN for a month.

“Rulaz” produced by Dem Jointz aggressively opens up shop talking about having no weak links around them whereas “Don’t Worry” hooks up a piano instrumental from Tae Beast suggesting not to stress over money because it doesn’t make you rich. “N2G” dabbles with trap to talk about them runnin’ it up in the midst of their new beginning while the 5 & a half minute “Woman” finds themselves experiencing a love like no other. “God’s Grace” lastly caps off the EP by smoothly talking about everything being alright & today being a good day.

I wouldn’t put it above In Case You Forgot personally, but The 5th still marks a sharp evolution from Coast Contra’s viral freestyles to fully-formed songs by showcasing the group’s lyrical depth along with their commitment to legacy & the cinematic sound they’ve become known for. The production has more trap elements than its predecessor did almost 8 months ago & I don’t mean that as a con, it just further cements the quintet’s variety.

I heard this song for the first time, and I kept hearing

My lover’s got no money, he’s got his thrombolyse

Turns out it was "strong beliefs", and not a medical term

Have a listen: https://song.link/t/70681623

I could not remember what his name was until I finally got a chance to look it up. "Danny McPhee" was one of the names that kept popping into my head during that time, so enjoy that thought...

This song came up and I saved it. The AI generated album art was offputting, but I don't know many people who are putting out this style of music currently, so I went looking for more.

https://open.spotify.com/track/4wFwUk3EKO4CQAl8PCtlYP

All the covers are AI generated and all of their music is from 2024-2025. I can't find anything about them online despite their bio saying:

The Smoothies formed in 1973, blending Detroit's raw soul and Memphis's bluesy influences. Their unique sound quickly resonated with the vibrant 70s music scene. Throughout the 70s and 80s, The Smoothies recorded prolifically with a small indie label, creating cult classics. Despite not achieving mainstream fame, they amassed a dedicated following. Decades later, they teamed up with producer Paul Martini to restore and remaster their extensive back catalog. This collaboration reintroduced their timeless sound to both old fans and new listeners.

Lately, The Smoothies embraced the motto: "You'll never know" and so they decided to jump into the music market..."Better late than never.".

Is it a bot that is stealing real music? Or is the music itself fake? The song sounded slightly off, but I could chalk that up as an intentional artistic choice.

Louis-Dreyfus’ interview with Kara Swisher followed her profile in The New York Times from earlier this month in which she made headlines for saying it’s a “red flag” when comedians complain about political correctness. While she never mentioned her “Seinfeld” co-star Jerry Seinfeld by name, her interview was published soon after he went viral for blaming the “extreme left and P.C. culture” for killing TV comedy because “people [are now] worrying so much about offending other people.”

“To have an antenna about sensitivities is not a bad thing,” Louis-Dreyfus told The Times. “It doesn’t mean that all comedy goes out the window as a result. When I hear people starting to complain about political correctness — and I understand why people might push back on it — but to me that’s a red flag, because it sometimes means something else.”

The line is quippy, but it's silly when you look at the batman stories. Anything can be funny if you get reductionist with it

When the writers have her saving plants, they do it in a way that you root for her. Same with Mr. Freeze, those episodes and the movie is really touching, solely because of his motivation.

You don't root for batman to beat them up or flex his wealth on them, you want Batman to help them. You want them both to get happy endings.

The stories usually end with batman stopping the carnage, while also arresting whatever CEO was cutting down trees or doing experiments on Nora. In other stories, he funds social programs and advocates for reforms as Bruce Wayne.

Maybe there are other stories where he acts like a frat boy. I skip content that has shitty writing

Moved from Australia to Canada. I used to watch cartoons with snow and I was looking forward to it.

I got here and received more snow than I knew what to do with

Sometimes I have the opposite problem, where the audience is more disruptive than anything. I haven't been in a while, but I'm thinking back to the random cheering and clapping that pulls you out of the movie.

I also find that a lot of theatres are too loud now, but maybe my ears are getting old
