I'm in the process of getting a new printer and since I recently (December 2024) switched to Linux it would be nice if it would be Linux compatible. So far I've decided on the Canon PIXMA G550 printer but I can't find anything about it's compatibility so I figured I would just ask here in the hopes someone might have the same printer or knows someone who has the same printer and can tell me if this printer works with Linux. If all else fails I could still use the printer with my tablet or phone using Canons app but using it with my desktop would be much more comfortable.

So far I've found https://www.xtorm.de/collections/cables from the Netherlands and https://recable.eu/ from Germany. Do you know any additional ones?

Just wanted to say I made the switch yesterday from Windows 11 to Fedora Linux, no dual booting. It took multiple installs though because the first two times I followed old instructions for installing the Nvidia drivers. The third time I found out that I can just install them through the software center when third party repositories are enabled and that worked like a breeze.

And I have to say it's a really good thing that the installer for Fedora is getting an overhaul soon because Anaconda is horribly confusing in its UX.

Edit: just wanted to add a hyfetch screenshot:

The reason Valve is not massively predatory is because they aren't publicly traded and remain a private company.

As much as I like looking at pictures of anime girls I think they should be marked as NSFW if they are barely clothed.

Nobody cares about that in EU

I prefer seeing up vote and down vote counts separately and nothing else.

Why not just pick new words to use?

Because the current word for it works just fine?

So the author of the WaPo article is typing in anorexia keywords to generate anorexia images and gets anorexia images in return and is surprised about that?

The keyboard shortcut to reopen closed tabs (command + shift + t) now reopens last closed tab or last closed window, in the order items were closed.

This is very good!

There is https://codidact.com/ which is an open source alternative to Stack Overflow

It does feel a little dead here.

This is also partly to blame on the sorting algorithm. There is an active PR to improve this https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/pull/3378 (Relevant issue: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3622)
