My dog once caught what I thought was a diseased rabbit (because how else could my fluffball catch a rabbit?), but now I'm thinking it was just a hare

Looked like it had just come back from the ethereal plane, its eyes were so wide

Sure, but that wouldn't have changed when hexbear re-federated.

What you see now as far as their downvote activity on lemmy is what it has always been since the reddit migration, even before. At least I see no reason why it would have changed due to their defed/refed activity

I'm all for shitting on hxbr but that instance literally cannot use the downvote function. It's more likely that hexbear-related whining is just more unpopular on the non-tankie instances than you think.

And I would hope those websites are extremely low-risk and not anywhere near essential infrastructure or data ;)

I'm not sure who needs to hear this, but unless you work as a security engineer or in another security-focused tech field, you really shouldn't be exposing your homelab to the open internet anyway

Most people access their homelabs via VPN - i don't see anything here that's a problem for that use-case.

Rocket Man - Jesse Welles (www.youtube.com)
submitted 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) by anarchiddy@lemmy.dbzer0.com to c/music@lemmy.world

I heard the altar call of the rocket man

as he pleaded on the mount

then were we like those who dream

as the tired tiger jumped through hoops of fire

one last time for the crowd

then were we like those who dream

I saw containerships of man's demise

ride tidal waves to hell

then were we like those who dream

and the whales that did swim by they did not blink

or wish us well

then were we like those who dreamed

all the stones that

broke yer bones won't

maim the soul inside you

time's jus a thing you live through baby

all the things that

make me sing are

jus songs I'm relearning

there's nothing here I'm earning

and on the 8th day man made a machine

likened to his image

then were we like those who dream

and he argued whether or whether not

it would kill and eat his village then were they like those who dream

all the stones that

broke yer bones won't

maim the soul within you time's just a thing you live through baby

all the things that

make me sing are

just songs I'm relearning

there's nothing here I'm earning

I saw the ministers of relevant humanity

trade cards

then were they like those who dream

and I looked into that valley and I knew it would be hard

then were we like those who dream

all the stones that

broke yer bones won't

maim the soul within you

time's just a thing you live through baby

all the things that

make me sing are

just songs I'm relearning

there's nothing here worth earning

Beyond the publicly known political preference of the mod, I think it's strange that a community on a social media site built on activitypub would have a blanked policy against the posting of other self-published news sources, irrespective of the authors and journalists and their proven reputation.

That said, my take on lemmy moderation has always been JDS, or 'just decentralize, stupid'. We're not reddit, and we don't want to be like reddit, so we shouldn't be going out of our way to centralize communities or complain when we don't like the moderation choices or rules of a community we think ought to be managed differently.

I'm really confused as to why 'Russians' are generalized as the last domino here

Like, could have easily been 'Putin', but even then are we content with stopping at removing despots? Let's at least aim a bit higher, maybe 'oligarchy', or even 'capital owners' if we're being ambitious.

Someone with a medical background please tell me what on earth is happening inside that volume

All I can think of is that alien exo-suit from MIB with an alien operating him inside

I have a related question:

Where do the users who get banned from YPTB go, when they eventually get banned from YPTB?

[-] anarchiddy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Maybe it is? Don't non-binary people have a right to moderate their own space as they like?

If they have a rule against gatekeeping gender identities and pronouns in their own instance, don't they have a right to remove offenders from their servers?

You're all over this topic today, maybe just take a second and listen to what the community is saying. You've more than said your piece.

I'm completely in favor of this.

Frankly, most of what I see on this comm is BPR and YDI, and most people could probably benefit from taking their bans and touching grass. But having some posts be YDI makes the PTB's more exciting so maybe i'm wrong.

Maybe we should make some penalty for earning a YDI or BPR, so that people who receive them aren't encouraged to re-hash the same conflicts over and over? I'm honestly not sure. Part of the problem is that the same people cross-post the same conflict on similar comms, which makes it feel as if the same issue is being litigated repeatedly.

But complaining about receiving a ban from a protective community with strict conduct policies is certainly not the intent of this community, i don't think.

This is my attitude whenever someone complains about there being too much 'politics' in everything.

Everything touches politics, but we only notice it when it adversely effects us. The people who take as granted that politics is it's own thing are usually the people who are the most privileged by it.
