I have stopped watching the news a few years ago. Occasionally i'll check it if something major happens, otherwise i'll hear the important things through others.

I must admit i am much happier since. So i rather know little :)

I suppose thats the difference between Windows admins and Linux admins. Windows admins are used to click their way though things with fancy gui's and wizards :)

I've been using Proxmox professionally for years now, and not once did i have s problem i could not fix myself. But i'm used to solve problems myself by "digging in deep". Ofcourse it helps that i've been using Linux (mostly Debian) since 1996. There are plenty of guides around to teach how Debian works. Windows admin's who make the switch just need to take the time to read them, watch the video's, do the research.

The only skills we where born with are the basic survival skills. Everything else is learned along the way. So was using Windows, and so is using Linux.

But thats just my opinion :)

Only to login and see rhat they actually didn't restart. They just said so because they think you wont find out 😂

Yes, you can. But a lot of Windows users dont even know what powershell is.

And personally i think you shouldnt have to jump through hoops for what i consider basic functionality. They also make it near impossible to install Windows 11 new without having to resort to all kind of tricks to create a local account. Its a shitshow.

In my humble opinion :)

The problem is, knowing Microsft, its gonna be turned on by default. And half the people who use Windows barely know how to turn the computer on and off. Let alone dive deep into some half baked settings app to figure out where to turn it off.

It was at the beginning of the pandemic when my dad died.

He was in the hospital, and i could sense he was dying, but no doctor would come to check. At the end of visiting hours i was escorted out with 3 police officers, only to get a phone call the next morning that he was, indeed, dying. I was so angry at everyone.. i think ive never felt more "black" then that. I swear i could have killed anyone who got in my way for that first year after :(

Its been a while since i last read about it, but i thought they made some exempts so FOSS wouldnt suffer too much. One can only hope they did!

I can hear you, listen to you, and forget about what you say all at the same time!

But thats exactly the problem :) some ego steps in and boom! As a foreign government you simply cant trust that a privatly owned company has your best interest at heart, and they shouldn’t.

i read an article a few weeks ago that said that our (the Netherlands) government is working on its own Mastodon instance, i hope they actually pull through with that :)

I never understood why official goverment body’s do that anyway. Maintaining your own infra means you have full control. This should be mandatory for any government body. Not beeing dependant on big tech who make up silly rules as they please.

Not everyone should be allowed to have children. Why? Because i believe my parents shouldn't have had children. But here i am anyway ;-)
