American here, living in the Seattle area. I have never had pineapple on pizza. I like it on pizza, but only if combined with other toppings that are spicy and salty. I would try it on a burger, but I already have issue with burgers being too fucking tall (ridiculous and pretentious) and melting from too much grease, so adding more toppings that are liquid prone seems, logistically, the wrong direction. But as always, I am always happy to be proven wrong.
Belongs? How about we let people eat whatever the hell they want? Who cares?
Nothing on burgers except cheese and onions on a smash burger or lettuce and tomato on a bbq burger. Anything else is just overkill i think. I like pineapple on pizza but I don’t want sweet on my burger
Pineapple creamcheese bbq sauce 👌
They're pretty good, they definitely improve an otherwise pretty average burger. I've rarely had them on actual good burgers but on those occasions they were also good, but I think the trouble is that in that context it's kind of a distraction and just a bit too much added water weight if it's an otherwise nice hefty and generous burger. They definitely need to be cooked themselves a bit to caramelise them though otherwise not really worth bothering with.
Who cares. Eat what you like. If it's a pineapple burger, put it in... And let people eat what they want and like, as long as it is not harming others.
Unless you're a cannibal, like Shia Labeouf.
Is it harming someone?
well....
Did this once for some friends come over for a cook out. Everybody loved them.
Just so long as you wash it down with an avocado smoothie.
Grilled pineapple is so freaking good on a burger, especially if you use sweet chili for the sauce instead of ketchup/mustard/mayo.
Grilled pineapple is good on its own, the burger is garnish.
Pineapple is a weak choice of fruit for savory-sweet combinations. Y'all need to learn about cranberry
Enjoy a burger how you want, or not, I could hardly care any less as long as you're not hurting anybody with your lifestyle choice.
Personally, I just don't like cooked pineapple very much. It's a pale imitation of fresh in both taste and texture. Pure disappointment, and I've got enough disappointment in my life already, don't need anymore on my pizza or burger or tacos or spaghetti or upside down cake or colada.
No
Pineapple? Don’t insult the burger like that
Pineapple belongs on everything you like it on. No matter what others say. Life’s too short to rob yourself of things food you like, simply because other people think so.
A friend of mine turned me on to pineapple and peanut butter on my burger. It is weirdly amazing.
I could see that, i really enjoy peanut butter and Vegemite together on a sandwich
Vegemite is one of my most proud acquired tastes. My parents picked up a jar of it when they were down under, and when I was over and saw it I said, “Oh good, you got Vegemite!”
They started going on about how they think it’s a joke that the locals play on foreigners. I showed them that if you spread it thin enough, you can start to enjoy it. Then you build up that enjoyment.
I love that shit.
Whether it's a roast pig, or a burger, or a pizza, there's a reason pineapple is always brought up.
Controversial or not, the concept of something being both savory and sweet at the same time is popular (and frankly...delicious) Heck, it's the whole reason Chocolate Covered Peanuts exist.
Pineapple is easily the best for that kind of combination. Apple comes in a close second (hence having an apple butter pork tenderloin, or apple sauce with pork chops, etc...
Why pineapple gets singled out and derided over every other fruit that does the same thing is just weird.
I love pineapple on both pizza and burgers. The flavor and bite quality is very appealing on a hot, meaty piece of food. Even better if the burger has soy sauce on it. The contrast brings out the best in both flavors.
I partly agree. I love pinapple on pizza and burgers, but only when I want the food to have that particular taste. The sweetness and sourness of pineapple is all-consuming flavor to me, and I don't always want other flavors to be hidden behind the pineapple.
I can understand that. I think it's best when the other flavors are also strong, but it a way that balances it out.
Condensing a rant I had on another comm with this question here: fruit belongs with meat. fullstop. Idk why we're still having this discussion when medieval peasants were able to figure it out in like the 12th century.
I haven’t tried pineapple on a burger, but I wouldn’t rule it out. I think Ray Kroc wanted to introduce something called the “Hula Burger” at McDonalds.
That technically wasn't pineapple on a burger... It was a pineapple burger. As in, the slice of pineapple replaced the beef patty.
Like a fritta? I had a burger yesterday that had s drop fride slice of pineapple in it. But it also had chicken etc too
lol oh really? That’s interesting. 😂
Teriyaki burgers with pineapple is one of my absolute favorite burgers
One of the best. But messy as heck to eat.
Grilled pineapple is preety good on any meat.
it's pretty damn good on both and if you don't think so you're a baby 🍼🐥
Wouldn't be my choice, but the thing about burgers is that you can basically do anything to them and no one will care.
Something about pizza is sacred; people get very defensive about regional varieties and makeup. Burgers are profane in comparison. I'm sure there's a line to be drawn at some point for what a "wrong" burger is, but it's a pretty far and blurry line.
I was on board with pineapple in some scenarios. Carl's Jr does a teriyaki burger with pineapple that's alright.
But beets? Apparently even the food is trying to kill you down under.
Meh. I'd try it but I don't think I would especially enjoy it over any other burger. But I won't judge anyone who likes it.
I think that people should be allowed to like what they like and there's no debate. And anyone that wants to debate someone else's tastes can fuck off.
This has only just occurred to me, and I haven't tried it yet, but I'll bet its really good on a hot dog.
Colombian hot dogs have pineapple on them. They are really really good.
