!Witchesvspatriarchy@lemmy.ca has a new mod. It's a really fun and interesting group of posters curious about all things witchy, supporting women and smashing the patriarchy.

Deffo worth checking it out!

After some thought, the original group https://kbin.earth/m/2010s didn't have "music" in the actual group name, and therefore wasn't super-obviously a music group, so we're relaunching as https://kbin.earth/m/2010smusic

Apparently in kbin, there's no way to just change a community's name, so the mod had to create an entirely new /m or magazine.

I hope y'all will post your favorite music from the previous decade and help us build our community!

!elianscript@sh.itjust.works

What is Elianscript? It's an alternative writing system whose properties combine the linearity of spelling with the free-form nature of drawing.

It's also kind of like a weak cipher, to those not in the know. Similar to a pigpen cipher, but instead of randomly jumbling the letters, we all agree to do it alphabetically. That way everyone IN the know, can read it. It's a lock to keep out honest people.

This is quite niche, and some might say it should be part of a larger cryptography community. But really it's more artistic than that, it's not meant to be jumbled or rearranged to make it more cryptic.

Anywho, I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do!

New Ansible comm (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) by db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com to c/newcommunities@lemmy.world

Hey all, I've created a comm for my favourite infra automation tool: Ansible.

There's one in l.w. but it's been abandoned for a while now and barely has any traffic, so I felt it's a good time to distribute things a while

!ansible@lemmy.dbzer0.com

EDIT: Ignore the thumbnail. Lemmy is bugging out again with the previews.

For games like Factorio or Satisfactory.

!automationgames@lemmy.zip

/c/automationgames@lemmy.zip

Intended to replace the dead !automation_games@feddit.de. thanks to its instance dying and its mod not recreating it elsewhere.

Last time I posted on !newcommunities someone thought I did not post anything even though I did, so I should mention that I do have a post there. If you don't see it, it is probably because of how posts do not get federated over until someone from your instance subscribes to the community. I appreciate the intention to help but I am definitely aware that I ought to be posting—and I have! I'll be posting again a bit after this ad has been up.

I am a longtime GM, and have been looking to stretch my improv muscles for a long time. I've had this idea percolating for awhile about making quick, micro-rpgs that get resolved in a week or so. If that sounds like your cup of tea, join in! I'll be creating the initial games, but anyone that wants to create and GM a game is most welcome!

The first game is already up and is based on superhero parodies like The Tick. I call it: Stuperheroes!

Let's have some fun :D

Hi all! If you're looking for a bit of advice on your car, how to put up shelves, or just general dad support I really recommend Dad for a minute. It's the kind of advice a good dad can give when you're stuck, they massively helped me with some DIY advice recently. It's a really good group of people there, and really helpful 😊

James Bond is a reactionary relic of an imperial past but also woven into the fabric of British society with a big impact on global culture.

With the takeover by Amazon, we may see the franchise get driven off a cliff or just merciless exploited until Jeff Bezos has milked the cash cow dry and soured everyone against it or it could take the suave spy to new heights of cultural dominance.

Whatever happens (perhaps all of that in turn) it should be Interesting to watch, especially with new developments coming thick and fast. So strap yourself in and grab some 🍿.

New Communities

A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

Rules

The rules for behavior are a straight carry over of Mastodon.World's rules. You can click the link but we've reposted them here in brief, as a guideline. We will continue to use the Mastodon.World rules as the master list. Over all, be nice to each other and remember this isn't a community built around debate. For the rules about formatting your posts, scroll down to number 2.

1. Follow the rules of Mastodon.world, which can be found here.

A. Provide an inclusive and supportive environment. This means if it isn't rulebreaking and we can't be supportive to them then we probably shouldn't engage.

B. No illegal content.

C. Use content warnings where appropriate. This means mark your submissions NSFW if need be.

D. No uncivil behavior. This includes, but is not limited to: Name Calling; Bullying; Trolling; Disruptive Commenting; or Personal Criticisms.

E. No Harrassment. As an example in relation to Transgender people this includes, deadnaming, misgendering, and promotion of conversion therapy. Similarly Misogyny, Misandry, and Racism are also banned here.

2. Include a community or instance title and description in your post title. - A following example of this would be New Communities - A place to post new communities or instances all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

3. Follow the formatting. - The formatting as included below is important for people getting universal links across Lemmy as easily as possible.

Formatting

Please include this following format in your post:

[link text](/c/community@instance.com)

This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't

You should also include either:

!community@instance.com

or instance.com/c/community

FAQ:

Q: Why do I get a 404?

A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.

Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?

A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.
