I have macbook air with M1 chip, I wish I could change to linux but unfortunately I cant so I try to stick as much as possible to using open source on macos. But i cant understand why FOSS apps take up so much space in memory. I'm even getting messages that says that I dont have space left in memory and i must close apps, and I thought that chip M1 was enough with 8gb of ram. I send a pic of my memory usage.

Is there an apo to apply cool filters to images instagram like? Or any image editor which supports using images as stickers?

Using password managers and 2FA with passwords can be a slow and boring process, if you can unlock with fingerprint is much faster and frictionless, however I dont want my provider to know my fingerprints (samsung) is there a way to achieve this?

Ever since I started degoogling my life, i missed how to integrate calendar and tasks in all my devices. Because of my work Im stuck using Macos and I have a debloated samsung device with F-droid. However I need a way of syncing calendars and tasks between Macos and my phone, so I can get push notifications on both of my devices about events and pending tasks, I really need this as i often struggle with ADHD and the only way of getting my tasks done is being very structured with my apps notifying me with the tasks i need to do. Do you guys know what is the best way to implement this using FOSS software?

Theres a lot of discussion here against centralization, but i wonder how possible it would be to maintain a federated infraestructure and build on top a mega meta search engine for centralization of resources

That would be amazing and even building a streaming app in too of it to compete with strraming services. Something similar to stremio for films and a music streaming service

I have a samsung A22 which is not supported by any of the foss roms i would like to try, so i started to debloat my phone and logout from google, removing as much propietary software as i can from my phone and replacing by foss alternatives. The only thintg i didnt manage to do is removing google services as i live in a country where foss options of maps apps doesnt work very well unfortunately so I have to stick with google maps. I tried Gmaps WV but it still needs google play services to work. I also added the micro G repository but I cant see the option to install it, is it possible?

Its not a secret that grpahene OS amd other foss, privacy oriented roms dont support many devices letting a lot of people locked inside proprietary roms. Thats my case so i want to replace as much as I can the proprietary software on my samsung phone if possible for Graphene OS alternatives but i can't find their apps on F-droid unfortunately, so i wanted to ask if theres a repository for their apps, itwould be a shame if not, because i think it could help people to have more FOSS apps on their phones.

My girlfriend gave me an Alexa assistant as a gift with all good will, since she knows I like technology. I know in terms of privacy it is garbage, however I wonder if there is a safe way to use some functions of this device, perhaps without internet. Some way to hack it or something, do you guys know something about this?

it is not even true that "privacytests.org rate it as the best", if you look close enough, librewolf is best rated, which is an amazing browser BTW.

Unfortunately DDG blocks piracy related searches and torrents, that's why I don't support them anymore, also they plan on banning "misinformation" whatever that means. I don't like it anymore.

This will be the end of capitalism, the only option they have is universal income.

This is the option I can enable after activating developer options on my Samsung. It is in spanish, but it do mean that you are able to unlock the OEM bootloader, letting you access to boot roms, as far as I understand. Is it really impossible?

But unless you're paying with Monero, you paying with cryptocurrency is not private at all. Idon't know a lot about cryptos but I've heard blockchain is even more traceable than fiat and even less private as paying with cash.

I live in Latin America and I found out here governements dont require Samsung to OEM lock bootloader for Samsung phones, so thecnically im able to boot a custom rom unto my phone. But Im curious if this still enables us Samsung users from Latin America to boot any privacy respecting android rom, since most of them doesnt support Samsung devices at least that's what they say on their web pages. So, do you guys think there's a solution for us?

I'm a music producer, so I'm stuck with Macos because of Logic Pro, which is used by my coworkers. There's no chance they change it for a FOSS option. I know Asahi linux is out there but my M1 computer only has like 250Gb (which isnt a problem for me because I store all my logic projects an external hard drive , but I guess if Asahi an option for me. I also tried running Fedora virtualized on UTM, which runs not bad. Do you guys think that its safe to use UTM Fedora as my daily driver, and for important things like university work and my dissertstion? Or is it worth trying dual boot Asahi even if I only have 250Gb storage?
