Ms March (lemmy.world)

Acryllic on paper.

Returning to my series of abstract paintings based on whatever fiction book I happen to be reading.

This was inspired by Virginia Feito's novel Ms March, the story of an insecure woman who prizes appearances above all and steadily loses her grip on reality. Imagine DuMaurier's heroine in Rebecca crossed with Bryce Dallas Howard's character from Black Mirror and throw in a lot of psychosis. I wanted to capture her orderly, black-and-white thinking being fractured over a background of static.

PARIS (AP) — Paris is reviving the spirit of U.S.-French entertainer and civil rights activist Josephine Baker with a new mural.

Fifty years after her death, Baker now gazes out over a diverse neighborhood of northeast Paris, thanks to urban artist FKDL and a street art festival aimed at promoting community spirit.

Live model (lemmy.world)

Three speed paintings of the model, the title image is 40 minute

The model commented positively on the ones she saw. The 40 minute she loved the lighting and said she loves modeling because it's so body positive. Made me happy to hear!

I love these little guys so much. My kids make fun me for listening to their theme music over and over, but it's just so inspiring. It makes me want to go out there and strive toward some lofty goal.

Wanted something simple to try and get back into making my janky 80s vector art. Drawn with MacDraw II, emulated in mini vMac.

Rules

AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).

NSFW Policy: Nudity and suggestive content has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity or suggestive content, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity or suggestive content that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude or suggestive subject matter. If you aren't sure if your work is NSFW or not, just ask yourself, "Could I look at this at a typical office job and not get into trouble?" If you're still not sure after that, you should probably mark it as NSFW just to be on the safe side.

Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.

Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.
