The mountain is so high that it reaches the clouds. But what's even more special is that for some reason, it's one of like a very few mountains on the planet - it's freestanding. You can actually even see the planet's curvature with it.

I think that if you were to build a base there, you could probably reach for the sky.

Coordinates +0.22, -83.38. Planet's called Yannet Minor. Dissonant sentinels, pretty hot.

See title. Basically, I've been searching for specifically Paradise worlds -- ie., Lush planets with few Sentinels. But it seems I never come across any of them.

Does Permadeath disable them altogether?

And what if you change game settings when you already launched Permadeath and are in it? Would that invalidate achievements?

I tried to upload a video, but it didn't work.

I'm only just beginning to get going in the Permadeath (it's hard) and holy shit. I don't know if we'll ever meet again, Yung Crocker, but I love you all folks.

Thanks for the resources

Tap for spoiler(4 stasis devices, 2 fusion ignitors, some echo tracers, emergency signal scanners, ai transport ship frags, tons of sentinel borders, hyper warp reactors..)

and fun dance party we had with like 10 people spontaneously for ten minutes <3

I have a flying companion, -- if anyone wants an egg, just lemme know. In fact there's a whole ass planet with high flying, snakelike companions, that do land (by bumping into the hills)!

And it's apparently fun as heck! Liiittle hard to control though. I keep smashing into hillsides giggling uncontrollably.

I picked it up from https://nmsspot.com/2023/03/21/speed-tip-the-melee-reload-jump-trick/. Apparently you can

  • take a projectile gun (e.g. boltcaster) and fire a shot so it's not full
  • hit melee, hold it down
  • while holding down melee, tap reload really fast
  • instead of reloading you'll do the melee elbow animation over and over, going really fast
  • optionally take off with jetpack, or just keep giggling until you smack into something

Seriously this is like something straight outta Warframe.

I think the fact that you can't really control your direction very well just adds to its hilarity. And makes it less likely to get patched.

Just getting started, and I'm noticing that the first two systems I've visited have been abandoned. Is this like Adrift? I just visited the Anomaly, and it is also eerily silent, no other players visible.

Spooky, just in time for Halloween I suppose.

Question though, is there anyway to sell surplus technology modules? Without the normal merchants in space stations, I can't think of anyway of using sentinels to farm nanites. Can't remember from Adrift.

Good luck Travellers, I'm going to go back to drift in the void…

Ok maybe I'm just a stupid noob but I can't figure out what happened here:

  1. Started salvaging corvette components

  2. Bought a landing gear and hab module but couldn't afford/find a cockpit yet

  3. Started designing a corvette anyway, saved the half-finished design for later

  4. Went back now that I salvage a cockpit, game says I have no saved designs and the parts I bought are not in my inventory or Corvette Workshop storage

Did I screw myself by trying to save an invalid design?

I know in beacons they let us hAve multiple settlements, but I want to get rid of my old one. How do I abandon it? All internet searches come up with results before the update so they just say we can only have one.

Edit: I'm dumb, the giant button that says retire in the settlement history tab. Somehow missed it through my first pass of the menu

Corvette Landing gear wont extend or retract (piefedimages.s3.eu-central-003.backblazeb2.com)

I'm using the piston landing gear and it wont retract during flight or extend during landing, just stuck at that position. Was wondering if anyone had a fix. Probably just gonna use the hover landing gear

I really love the addition of corvettes to NMS. I was literally thinking about re-installing Starfield, partially to play with ship creation, when this update came out. Needless to say, I did not re-install Starfield (maybe some day).

I have to wonder what the long-term impact will be to the game, and whether and how Hello Games will address it. In many ways having even a barebones corvette is better than Exocraft and even regular ships.

For example, you can get out of the pilot seat, use your visor to find and mark what you're after, fly there, and beam down without landing. It's an overall more optimized experience than what you can do with a ship or Exocraft. Will they bother to address this or just allow ships and Exocrafts to become more vestigial?

The main hurdle is having enough units to buy parts or a Terrain Modifier to grind for scrap. Expeditions tend to begin with providing you a ship that you typically have to repair. The level of effort depends on the expedition nature and storyline. Will future expeditions avoid going to systems with Salvageable Scrap to prevent players from just making a corvette?

Not being able to use regular landing pads is an annoyance. I tend to make bases in caves and more than once I've teleported to a base only to find my corvette spawned in, partially underground and embedded in the dirt as opposed to spawned on a landing pad like a regular ship would. Will they eventually deal with it like they did with Space Stations, Freighters, and the Anomaly? Admittedly, I think how they handled landing on Freighters feels a little cheap and awkward, but it's an easy solution to the problem.

Given the procedural nature of the game, a big part of the NMS community has been centered around finding that "perfect" ship, multi-tool, and companion, which is why we have communities like !nmsglyphexchange@lemmy.world on Lemmy and Reddit. While I don't think that focus will completely go away, will the community shift from finding the perfect ship to building the perfect ship, which is similar to the Starfield community?

It's also possible that Hello Games never really addresses these. After all, NMS is nearly a decade old at this point and many of the new features it's getting are actually a test bed for Light No Fire features. They may not be too concerned with "cleaning up" the overall NMS gameplay.

What are your thoughts?

I'm on Phase 5 of the expedition and the only thing I have left to do in order to complete it is to shut down the sentinel forces. Unfortunately, I accidentally sold my sentinel boundary map! Is there any way to get another one, or am I just lost and should give up now?

I've gotten so much salvaged glass and nothing has popped up. I've taken out 3 sentinel capital ships, and no maps. I'm out of ideas.

Most of you probably know this already but I missed these features somehow and only stumbled on them recently.

The freighter Manage Fleet interface (on the console opposite the captain) lets you put ships in “cold storage.” They retain their tech but you can’t use them until you pull them out into one of your 12 ship slots.

The same can be done for multitools with the buildable Weapons Rack base element.

You can archive 18 of each. I was excited to discover this as I totally missed the news in whatever update brought it.

Hello all, I'm hoping to get some feedback on whether I would like this game or not before I decide to buy. I love space games and the idea of it intrigues me but I like to have a narrative/story to give me a reason to 'do' stuff. I tend to quickly lose interest in sandbox type games because they start to feel pointless to me. I feel like I've seen conflicting reports on whether NMS is more narrative or sandbox.

Also, I'm a dad so I have limited time to play. If this is the kind of game that requires hundreds of hours before it gets good or to the 'story' (such as it may be), I probably won't be able to properly enjoy it.

Feel free to ask me anything else that may help you give a recommendation and thanks in advance! I honestly want to be convinced to pick it up but I have doubts. :-P

I don't feel bad (lemmy.world)
submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world to c/nomanssky@lemmy.world

I have 230 hours logged into this game. I have 8 of the 16 glyphs. 3 days ago I had 0. The ONLY reason I have that many is I spent the last 20 in game hours warping, go to space station, find traveler? No. Warp again, go to space station. Find traveler? No. Repeat this process until finally after an hour or 3 you find the traveler. Find his grave, get 1 glyph.

I also get the space suit inventory upgrade, and the one from the annomoly. Only recently found out you can get suit tech slots expanded the same way.

Now my usual thoughts is that warping for the sake of finding travelers/upgrades goes against the whole foundation of this game. But I just got someone new into this game, and I KNOW she isn't going to find the 16 glyphs fast. I hadn't made any attempt to get them, and I hadn't found one in 190 hours.

My only hope is to do the glyph finding fast on my own, and hopefully she can send me a picture of her glyphs using her cell phone. Then I can come to her.

But I don't feel bad for cheating like that, when EVERYTHING in this game is a grind.

We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.
