They said my job could be done by a traffic cone, but a cone don't look this good in a vest!

If road construction crews blasted rock music wherever they worked, I wouldn’t be nearly as upset. Better noise pollution than a jackhammer.

[-] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 10 points 3 days ago

They should perform it live and use the jackhammer as a bass drum

[-] spankinspinach@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

They did, they're called the Village People

[-] JokeDeity@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago

Jackhammers? Your road crews do actual work?

[-] Amanduh@lemm.ee 4 points 3 days ago

Sounds like a safety hazard though

That could be so many places in America, but dam if that doesnt give me Pennsyltuckey vibes. Swear I have waited on that same guy to flip the sign lol.

[-] theorangeninja@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago

Wait so that guy is turning the stop sign around and then you can drive?

[-] peteypete420@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

Yea, one of the two lanes is likely closed for a lenghty stretch. So someone with a stop/slow sign at either end of the closure, who are on the phone or walkie talkie with each other. Bunch of peole go one way on the open road, then a bunch of people go the other way on the open stretch.

Probably hella annoying for locals as its big delay. But im a city boy and only see these on road trips, so Im usually in no rush, a good mode, and able to enjoy the scenery.

Is it not common to use temporary streetlights for that? This sounds great for short construction sites like a few days but for weeks on end something automatic should be cheaper no?

[-] aow@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Yeah, the other side says "slow".

[-] Siethron@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

On a related note I've always misheard this song as 'Shy best man'

Every girl's crazy bout a souped up van.

[-] Jiggle_Physics@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

I mean, it was the early 80s

I could see doing up a van like the hot rod in the music video.
