lunch time (lemmy.world)

took the suggestions offered by people on this sub + some youtube research, applied of that what I still could to the images I had and got this result, with which I'm quite pleased

It's tradition in the Alps to dress your cows with celebratory flower deco if the whole herd had no serious accident for their way down from the high alpine outdoors only meadows to their stables in the villages below. It's a day for celebration to all involved. We were lucky enough to just walk by on a hike :)

an epic fight between a wasp and a spider happened right on my lap until I sprang up and dumped them onto the couch on the roof top terrace. Now this is only the 3rd macro photo I ever took and I'm not 100% satisfied. I specifically look for feedback on how to get it to be completely sharp (I guess f/8 was still too wide open?) and whatever else specifically could make a difference towards a better image.

I'm not content with the angle for example; would have like to take the image more from the front but that wasn't possible as 30cm left of the wasp started the couch and I had to be quick before it flew away.

Slightly desaturated, ambiance increased, contrast and structure increases. Vignette and frame applied, shot on a Pixel 6 pro, edited in Snapseed

Shot on a dji Mini 3, postprocessed in Snapseed. Worked from the raw image, added some saturation and contrast, some ambiance and gave the clouds a light brush up of local contrast.

"hey, you crocheted a Linux Pinguin?" - "what's Linux?" asked the 14 year old, whose cellphone and handheld gaming device ran out of battery a day ago... And she didn't even notice yet.

The moral dilemma of not doxing someone vs celebrating them...

That law is definitely problematic. The phrasing was even back then critizised rightfully as too broad, too open to interpretation. It generates a bad precedent, as it could just as well be used against anti fascism activists once the AFD manages to grab power anywhere.

Now where does that come from? It stemmed from one of those actionism-phases in politics where someone said 'oh there's so much hate on the internet, it inspires hate on the streets, what should we do?'

The backdrop was a consistent uprising in really troubling hate speech on the internet, where people with their clear names called for lynching politicians and their families. The thing is, addressing this would not have required new laws. We would have been fine with someone actually persecuting the laws we already had.

Now the "new law" ofc makes it easier to persecute those criminal cases. But that prosecution still only happens if the police actually stand up to it. Arguments like "insufficient public interest" "insufficient staffing" "that could have been anyone writing this, how should we know that an account named Max Mustermann actually belongs to said Max Mustermann" still give the police in the more right wing states in Eastern Germany easy ways out. If they don't want to prosecute a crime, they will always find a way around it.

With all that being said, I can only concur with observations that this law is only now being discussed in international news as right-wing governments with media ties try to make a bad mood against Germany and influence the upcoming elections. Otherwise the anti-protest laws in the UK that bring climate activists behind bars for peaceful non-violent protests would top those headlines every time.

Tl/DR; yes, that law is shit and good intentions don't help. Police still only prosecute those they want.

Oh wow, didn't expect that :)

Thanks!

Didn't do any editing, came out of the camera like that. But dji already does quite heavy editing. The problem is that the raw format in which they save the file is AFAIK only fully implemented by Photoshop, so working with jpegs it is...

The cave's interior is out of a story book, with stalactites, stalacmites and gigantic round dripstones, cathedral like openings, waterfalls and tight spots to dive and press through. Was a real adventure

Random trivia: Showing the swastika is a crime in Germany. The Neonazis tried to use that to shut down a shop selling stickers the swastika being thrown in a trashcan. They lost fabulously

Drone pilot from Germany here, they have no place hovering over your property, more strictly even they're not allowed to fly in any way that allows them to view your garden from above. You can shoot down the drone and it's their problem note that this is in Germany not the US (which surprised me tbh).

However, that said, could be that it's the same pilot again and again, even if it's different birds. Normally they are very cooperative, just ask them to stop and they'll apologize for any inconvenience caused.

It baffles me how short lived the memory of people is. The whole affair around Gorch Fock should have made a persona non grata, especially after blatantly refusing any collaboration with the authorities (very convenient that all the incriminating chats were deleted and she can't remember a thing anymore...). On the other hand, looking at the SPD and Scholz' appearance for the Warburg Bank investigation was not any better.

Does that mean "any" person? So all police officers that broke the freedom of speech ammendment have to do 6 months of community service as well? And those nut jobs that attacked peaceful protest camps and clubbed students over the head?

Wanted to come here and point out the third option: suffer from pollen allergies and just die when you get beat that field. Then I saw all the comments about people not frolicking, so I'll take my histamin blockers and jump with you in that field :)
