Obama visited my kids high school and my family went. My husband shook his hand and told him good luck. We were all really excited to see him speak and answer a few questions.

No. Just regular mostly human actor shows.

We're watching Teacup, Hysteria, and Bad Monkey. All are pretty good.

Friend and her husband were Kamala and Kanye -that was good. Another friend's family went as Gravity Falls and that was fun. Several cute spidermen and general fairies and princesses.

I wanted to do one but i was worried about offering them a food source near my house and then taking it away. My mom had squirrels in her attic and it was a pain the the ass to rid and repair.

I take several breaths thinking about my pillow, bed, covers, and position; get comfortable and relaxed; and try to clear my mind. Then i start at my feet relaxing each body part for three breaths, feeling it sink into the bed and focusing hard so other thoughts can't creep in. If i get distracted and wander, i start over. I'm usually asleep within a couple of minutes. It took me awhile to learn to do this and to keep my brain blocked. What I've learned is that sometimes it's not 'can't fall asleep' it's 'won't fall asleep,' i have this great method that works almost every time, but sometimes I'm resistant and still staring at the clock. Then i think, "knock it off! You're self sabotaging!" and force myself to follow through.

Have you seen the squirrel made jack-o'-lanterns? Apparently you drill holes and fill them with peanut butter where you want the eyes, nose, mouth.

How about Wanda. I had an aunt Wanda. She was kinda mean, but she had a lot of boyfriends.

This is also because of how different states handle early or absentee votes - counting them early or not. It definitely added to the Big Lie because of the thousands of blue votes that were added in big chunks late in evening in some states.

No. Mine looks like this but more spaced out. They have signs up about phones and the room is very well monitored. I tried to use my phone last time because i had screenshotted my vote411. They gave me a pen and a paper to go outside and write them down instead.

Edit-forgot the pic.

I work in a public school district and i visit about a dozen different schools. Bosses are making us share our calendars, thinking they'll be able to track us and catch us doing something wrong. I'm planning to add "started my period" every couple of weeks. Are there other good outlook tricks to fuck with them?

ETA- This is my work calendar, not my personal calendar. I know that seems reasonable but it's being done as a petty micromanagement tactic. There are about 20 of us in my department who drive from school to school every day working with kids with physical disabilities. They don't just want to know when we're in meetings - they want every minute of our day to be accounted for - 8 to 830 school A, 840 to 11 school B, etc. I go to 14 schools. If my kid at school A is absent or if i get a call from school J that i need to stop by to fix a wheelchair, am I supposed to pull over and update my calendar so they can find me? I could spend an hour a day in parking lots editing my calendar. Most days i eat lunch in my car between schools. Last year they made a rule that we can't carry to-go cups because it looks like we have enough free time to drive thru Starbucks. It's just to be controlling.

I'm non-techy. I work for a public school district and visit with kids in about a dozen schools. I like having my work email on my phone so teachers can get in touch if they need me. For years we've just used the outlook app with no real issues that I've noticed. We're seeing more and more micromanagement and it sucks. We recently got notice that we have to install Cisco Duo on our phones if we want to have our email on it. Should i do that? Or just say no and be ok with being out of contact?

What should I buy? (lemmy.world)

Sorry if this is not the right community for this. In the US. I currently have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The air suspension was awesome, but now that it's failing it's driving me crazy so I'm looking for something new. I haul wheelchairs and similarly- sized stuff for work so i need some cargo space. I'd love an SUV with second row captains seats and no third row. Does anyone make that? I'm leaning away from American cars, but can be swayed (my last two cars were Camaro and Jeep). I like things that look a little sporty with little/no chrome, a good amount of hp, and AWD is a plus. I usually drive 10-30 miles per day and get a $60/mo stipend- so about one tank of gas right now. I've browsed the websites for the new 4runner, Outback, Forester, Santa Fe, and a few others. Appreciate any ideas or opinions.

ETA- 6 months ago the dealer wanted $9k to replace the air suspension, so i went to a small Goodyear shop for $6k instead. That shop was bought by brakes plus and they won't honor any warranty. Dropped it at the dealer for diag this morning. Just got a call - $4800. I was expecting $9k. Now I'm on the fix it/trade it fence.

If you use "they" to describe a nameless group of people and you mean anyone other than The Man (That's how they get you.), you're probably the one who's wrong.

Looking forward to reading some fun exceptions.

I'm not great at determining when something is AI. Is there an app or community for asking if an image is real or AI?

When i was young I thought my mom's colorful decor was ridiculous. Now I'm old and my kids think I'm ridiculous for wanting colorful everything. Is that a thing?

I like Nickelback (lemmy.world)

Not enough to follow them around, but i would see them if they came to town and I'm kind of looking forward to watching the Netflix show when I'm home alone Monday.
