Disagree pretty hard. SciFi has always been a medium for exploring the philosophical and political. Every description of a future dystopia/utopia is social commentary; every alien race is a commentary on xenophobia or cultural exchange. Hell even his own books explore...

Tap for spoilerthemes of ecosystem collapse and humanity's response, which can't be anything but a political take in 2026.

If you don't want politics in your books SciFi is probably the worst place to look. Someone should tell him to stick to... idk... character driven romance novels or something.

Let this be a lesson everyone: if you're going to punch a fascist make sure you don't stop until his stupid mouth can't say any more dumb shit

I'm not saying you're right or wrong but it is certainly interesting that the most prominent tankie specimens on the fediverse average 20+ essay-length comments per day while I get fed jacketed if I spend more than 2 paragraphs refuting their bullshit.

Strange that these self described proles have enough free time between their subsistence wage earning and real life praxis to write a small novel per week...

I have a groundbreaking theory about prolonged playing of contact sports, traumatic brain injury, and far right politics... You generally don't hear these headlines about tennis/soccer players, or nearly as often about basketball/baseball players.

As someone who enjoys American football and hockey, it's a damn shame that we still paint athletes as role models.

Dudes probably just at a private golf outing or a child sex trafficking party or out hunting endangered animals to extinction

20k attended? Damn, they could have just given everybody $2000 and skipped the $40m parade. I'm sure people would have enjoyed it more.

Marxist puppet? Are these "Marxists" in the room with you right now?

Who would be pulling the strings for Marxists in 2025? Uh... Cuba? Lemmy.ml? Lenin reanimated as a Communist Lich King?

Out of curiosity, what constitutional basis do they have to do this? Elections are explicitly run by the states and there's nothing about RCV or any voting system that prevents a fair election.

Honest question: if the administration's defense is shrugging because he's in another country, doesn't the judge have an easy layup to shut down CECOT deportations?

They can't have it both ways, either follow due process or keep your slave detention camps domestic. It's not interfering in foreign policy to point out they need to choose.

As an English speaker, most easily accessible news sources on the internet are very Americentric. Given the current state of global politics, I want to break out of that bubble.

I have dual American/Italian citizenship, so I'd like to keep up to date with Italian + EU current events. All I can find are the most major national scandals, Prime Ministers talking about Trump, and the results of ~~soccer~~ football matches.

So leggere un po' di italiano, but not enough yet to read a newspaper. How can I keep up?
