Kickstarter backers aren't happy with not getting the full campaign they thought they already paid for

The game's page has the "Uses Kernel Level Anti-Cheat Easy Anti-Cheat" badge of shame in the sidebar, so you don't even need to make it down to the bad reviews before you decide to avoid the game.

Damn, I didn't even notice that. Guess I'm not going to give this game a go, despite being f2p

It's not kernel level on linux, it never prompted for admin.

Oh wait, so did they actually bait and switch the KS backers? Wouldn’t that be false advertising? And also, wouldn’t that mean they’re in serious trouble with KS, and liable to have a shitload of money removed from their accounts, or at least a lawsuit?

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stormgate/stormgate

(Founder's pack) Includes one Vanguard Hero, the Vanguard Chapter 1 campaign content, an Army accent cosmetic, and Founder's Discord role.
(Ultimate pack) Deluxe Founder's Pack PLUS Vanguard Campaign chapters 2 and 3,

Sounds like they only promised the first 3 levels (chapters) of the Vanguard campaign and nothing else, unless they changed the text and images sometime during or after the KS

Understandable they are pissed. Paying in advance for games not yet made is a fucking scam, develop your shit and convince me with a finished, polished product.

I'm also sceptical of the bunch of promotional fluff in that link, that generally means less substance more bullshit in a game.

Bit unfair to call crowd funding a fucking scam

Without crowd funding there's just games made by big publishers and the occasional indie company that is started by someone already loaded

Looking at how Abiotic Factor and Pillars of Eternity did it, it can be done right and not be a scam. But it's tough to guess which project won't end up like this mess.

It's a big reason why I tend to avoid Kickstarter/early access games. I understand the funding these campaigns bring in help keep the studio afloat, but I would rather wait for the full release.
