Protests crack down on the internet has been going on for quite some time, don't just blame it on trump but on the whole government and its infrastructure.

Politicians never fight their wars. Conscription is slavery.

I'll never get enough of saying it: this is happening with the help and support of your government

[-] index@sh.itjust.works 58 points 2 months ago

Where is the outrage?

It's there but media and the government are not covering it.

I remember the guy started working on military defense but i didn't know he founded his own military defense company named after the lord of the rings with the help of peter thiel. Also i wasn't aware his company is now producing an arsenal of surveillance weapons and leading the sector.

"More than 40 migrants are feared dead off Italy's Lampedusa after a lone 11-year-old survivor said the boat she was on capsized, a rescue group said Wednesday.

We assume that she is the only survivor of the shipwreck and that the other 44 people drowned," said Compass Collective, which assists in migrant rescue missions in the Mediterranean.

The group's Trotamar III vessel "heard the calls in the darkness" of the girl Wednesday morning at approximately 2:20 am (0120 GMT) while heading to another emergency.

The 11-year-old girl, originally from Sierra Leone, had been floating in the water for three days with two improvised life jackets made from tire tubes filled with air and a simple life jacket," the group said in a statement."

"Under torture, Hamada was forced to confess to charges of being a terrorist, possessing weapons, and the murder of regime soldiers. When he refused to confess, agents were called to come and torture him. He was beaten and suspended by the wrists. To alleviate his suffering, he agreed to sign a forced confession, admitting that he possessed a weapon to protect the demonstrators, but he refused to admit having committed any crimes. He was then transferred to another interrogation room, where he was undressed and sexually abused. After this torture he signed all of the documents.

At the beginning of 2013, he was ill and taken to military hospital 601, nicknamed by other detainees as a "slaughterhouse". In transit to the hospital, Hamada was physically assaulted. He was told to forget his name, and was assigned the number "1858". There he saw detainees tortured to death, corpses piling up in the toilets and hospital staff beating patients to death. Hamada begged the doctor to be returned to detention."

they released multiple mugshots, pictures of him in jail and now there are even videos. That's not normal at all.

Looks like they are trying hard to rebrand the guy image by publishing pictures where he looks off. How i'm supposed to believe the government has no plan against the people when they pull stunt like this?

In the expulsion of russian maintainers thread there are multiple people who are insulting russians as a whole. Isn't insulting people for their nationality against lemmy.world CoC? Is it allowed to insult egyptians or vietnamese people in a similar way?

Imagine declaring violent someone for their demonstrations against a genocide

[-] index@sh.itjust.works 55 points 7 months ago

This is the sort of collateral damage nobody talks about. Even for these cheering at the bombing of terrorists, you still have to take into account the consequences of your actions, bombing everything to dust has a price.

Same poor souls are feeling so hopeless about the genocide that they are burning themself alive. Meanwhile politicians and billionares are laughing and feasting.

Doesn't sound like an easy task, perhaps a good start would be teaching them how to tie knots and learn wind direction. Once they are old enough to travel book a vacation to somalia and introduce them to the place, that's where most of piracy is going on these days
