Anyone developing desktop for BSD will likely just gravitate to xfce or similar I bet. I honestly am not sure what ghostbsd or midnight or others package by default now.

This all seems to make sense. Ditching legacy and rarely used code that next to no one uses (and some that was temporary to begin with.)

Nothing stopping anyone else from creating things to handle gnome without systemd but also making the workload easier and one might argue more secure.

I need to give this a go again. Tried it a while back but wasn't impressed enough to keep it. Been using pulsar since which has mostly been nice.

I mean, if youre continually updating files on remote take the time to learn vim. My God it's a million times more efficient. Even using the keybindings in an ide makes sense.

That and Im not aware that rhel distros at all have nano built in. Nothing on a random rocky 9 box I randomly sshed into just now.

CalyxOS would be the closest thing to graphene you could install.

Freeze chex and lexis nexus and those too. Keeps people from opening bank accounts in your name.

Excellent news honestly. Trying to get people to switch to something encrypted and the one thing I've thought of is that I want to know it can continue indefinitely. Everything else in life costs money- we just never think of it computer wise because we pay with our data and privacy.

This can join threema with a solid revenue stream. I back mine up locally but would pay for this anyhow.

Amazing. You read an article about how shitty trump is and you immediately blame Democrats.

Honestly, I am siding with Linus here. Mainline is not the place for last minute changes without testing. And it seems Kent isn't going to change his methods, etc. That and the retort was pretty disrespectful.

I have high hopes bcachefs can be something great but... At its current rate it's going to flame out before reaching its potential.

If 34 felonies, rape, insurrection, etc. Didn't sway people Im not sure age is the thing that'll turn them around.

Nightly mobile URL bar (sh.itjust.works)

Anyone else hate this? I don't want a dumbed down bar. If Im on the homepage, I want to know. Same as if I'm on a subpage.

This is in reference to Mozilla changing the URL to ALWAYS show only the domain. Absolutely terrible IMO. As for the double tall menu now? That is mostly fine.

At least give me an option to see the full url.

Cool. How about a repairable phone with a headphone jack? I'll be a day one buyer.

Unsure if this is the place to ask or not but figured it was closest to it.

Basically I am looking to make an AIO retro gaming PC. Main goal is to have one simple box hooked up to the TV so my friends and I can game without having to swap discs and consoles all the time. Would probably use mostly DS3 (or 4?) controllers hooked up with USB or via BT.

I know lemmy doesn't much care about piracy but this is all just to play games/consoles we legally own. Would include PS1-3, Nintendo, SNES, N64, Gamecube (think that is all we have).

I think https://batocera.org/ has been mentioned, Lakka (maybe this is more for pis?), and EmuDeck has been mentioned. Basically looking for the easiest distro to throw on a PC with a nice UI (can be launched via kb/mouse, all the same to me) that has the emulators built in and just needs the ROMs.

Apple tv sucks anyway. I'd like to remind people that it's near the end of the mls season and they still have no android mobile app. They actively piss on anyone not totally in line with their ecosystem, etc.
