"Lettuce Speak Freely"

[-] taladar@sh.itjust.works 64 points 10 months ago

Is she going for the record for shortest-lived social media platform too now?

[-] randompasta@lemmy.today 10 points 10 months ago

Less than on Scaramouche, I bet.

[-] BarrierWithAshes@fedia.io 1 points 10 months ago

Gonna be tough to beat mixer. I think she can pull it off.

[-] kokesh@lemmy.world 52 points 10 months ago

You'll need to make new account every 49 days

[-] Ulrich@feddit.org 50 points 10 months ago

Every "free speech" platform is, in reality, a "speech I like" platform.

[-] Almacca@aussie.zone 9 points 10 months ago

Every “free speech” platform is, in reality, a hate speech platform.

[-] Ulrich@feddit.org 2 points 10 months ago
[-] g0ndii@feddit.org 19 points 10 months ago

Hasn‘t she embarrassed herself about by now?

[-] Cyclist@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Haven't you heard? She isn't the type to give up.

[-] beejjorgensen@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 10 months ago

Another disinformation paradise. Go for it.

[-] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 10 months ago

Feel like I've seen this one before

[-] BarrierWithAshes@fedia.io 8 points 10 months ago

Fully expecting this to be like Truth Social, based off fediverse software with no attribution and no federation.

[-] hume_lemmy@lemmy.ca 6 points 10 months ago

Truss Social?

[-] Leorhall@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

Truss Social?

[-] callouscomic@lemm.ee 6 points 10 months ago

Good. Spread the fascists out on too many shitty platforms for them to organize well.

[-] Given2fly@lemm.ee 6 points 10 months ago

True embarrassment to the UK.

[-] FriendBesto@lemmy.ml 6 points 10 months ago

So, do you guys think that her social media platform will last longer or less than a piece of lettuce?

[-] YurkshireLad@lemmy.ca 3 points 10 months ago

A lettuce probably has more leaves than her platform will have users.

[-] just_another_person@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Just like every other supposed "free speech" platform, eh? How'd that all work out?

[-] superkret@feddit.org 5 points 10 months ago

A worthy successor to 4chan.

[-] Wazowski@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

Stupid cunt.

[-] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 10 months ago

Time to start live streaming a lettuce again to as the traditional Liz Truss standard for how long her projects last...

[-] xc2215x@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago
[-] MNByChoice@midwest.social 1 points 10 months ago
[-] briever@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

She's a moron, always has been - but who is the money behind her?

[-] TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.ca 6 points 10 months ago

I'm sure if you follow the paper trail enough it'll lead back to either Russia or the Heritage Foundation from the US.

It is yet another grifting disinformation factory.

[-] zipzoopaboop@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 10 months ago

You mean colossal failure Liz truss who couldn't outlast a head of lettuce?

[-] dajoho@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 months ago

LettuceConnect

[-] passwordforgetter@lemmy.nz 2 points 10 months ago

There is already a free speech platform called Gab Social, which follows America's 1st amendment. How could a fool like Liz Truss pretend to care about free speech, when people in her country routinely get the police at their door for posting memes? I'm so sick of free speech being nothing more than a trend or a buzzword used by rich people.

[-] MapleEngineer@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Aren't there enough right wing echo bunkers at this point?

[-] llamatron@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Jesus, this woman is desperate to stretch out her 15 minutes. How sad

[-] Deathray5@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 10 months ago

I remember Lizz Truss. For a short time I could winge about the conservative party to cab drivers without any fear that they would agree with them.

One of the good things about the UK is Trump style behaviour does not work here for long. Unfortunately it's more of an objection to incompetence than bigotry but that's life

[-] Eezyville@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago

Didn't that Trump style behavior convince you guys to leave the EU?

[-] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Yes but if you bring up that fact, they can’t act self righteous

[-] slacktoid@lemmy.ml 1 points 10 months ago

So it will shut down in a week as well?

[-] pastermil@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago

Lemme guess, they're gonna launch a private Mastodon server.

[-] Roundeyegweilo@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

It wasn't bad enough she crashed the UK's economy? Damn son, crack on with your dumb ass.

[-] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone -2 points 10 months ago

Last I checked the UK has no guarantees of free speech.

[-] JohnEdwa@sopuli.xyz 6 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

They do for the freedom of expression, as do most EU countries:

Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers. This Article shall not prevent States from requiring the licensing of broadcasting, television or cinema enterprises.

The exercise of these freedoms, since it carries with it duties and responsibilities, may be subject to such formalities, conditions, restrictions or penalties as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society, in the interests of national security, territorial integrity or public safety, for the prevention of disorder or crime, for the protection of health or morals, for the protection of the reputation or rights of others, for preventing the disclosure of information received in confidence, or for maintaining the authority and impartiality of the judiciary.

[-] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 10 months ago

We both know that this kind of nuanced take isn't was Truss is aiming for, though. Otherwise she wouldn't use the "free speech" canard.
