Not much has changed since the eighties, it would seem.

Liberal or One Nation - do you want selfish, or crazy?

Also, of all the millions of species that have evolved on Earth, only one has developed civilisation. We're an anomaly, not an inevitability. Other planets could be teeming with life, but it's happy to just chill in the forest/ocean/wherever.

Couldn't think of a more specific place to post this.

Mr Regular eviscerates the Cybertruck. If you thought you hated the Cybertruck, wait 'til you see this. Some of the most quotable lines I've ever seen in a video. Pure, hilarious poetry.

Getting back into my second playthrough of From Space, a fun little top down shooter with kooky guns, cool unique alien designs, and not too much thought required.

You just know when they call something 'Freedom Cities', they're going to be anything but.

His Hot Ones interview was pretty wholesome, too.

Looks can be deceiving. Everything I've seen about him makes him out to be one of the sweetest human beings alive. I won't hear a word against him, despite having no interest in his music.

They're pretty much brainwashed into it from birth was my understanding. So sad.

Good song. Dunno why it's been on my mind.

Begs The Question (aussie.zone)
submitted 1 month ago by Almacca@aussie.zone to c/general@lemmy.world

After hearing it used, I was looking up the correct usage of the term 'begs the question', because I heard somewhere that most people use it incorrectly, and came across this helpful page from Merriam Webster.

This bit at the end made me laugh out loud.

So that's where beg the question comes from, but all this, ahem, begs the question of what you should do with all this knowledge about the phrase. Liberman recommends that people avoid it altogether (but also "cultivate an attitude of serene detachment in the face of its use by others").

This week's most favourite band ever, courtesy of the YouTube algorithm. The lead singer's voice is amazing. I recommend giving the whole album a listen. It's all as good as this.

I was sad when it was cancelled. So stoked it's back.

Edit: I don't know what's going on with the video/audio syncing in this, but the gags are intact.

This song that came up on my Discovery Queue seems pertinent. I like their theatricality.

This week's most favourite band ever. I like to play an album I like and then let YT Music continue with similar sort of music. If something grabs my ear, I'll listen to the rest of that album, and if that's good I'll binge on the rest of the discography. I'm still working my way back through their albums, but everything I've heard so far I've really liked.

This is their most recent single.

This came up on my algorithm last night, probably due to all the Stewart Lee stuff I watch. It's brilliant and weird and very funny. The castle designer joke was my highlight.

TIL Tim Sweeny is into child porn. Not surprising tbh.

Back in the eighties, I loved Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and upon reading the film's credits, I discovered the ending song, Oh Yeah, was by a band called Yello. In the spirit of irony, I went to my local record shop in Burnie looking to get a copy for myself. I purchased a cassette copy of 'The New Mix In One Go' (a best of album), and it ignited a lifelong love of the band that persists to this day.

Stella, the album from which it comes is also one of their best.

New album dropped from these guys a few months ago - 'Back', A homage to Back To The Future. Love some nerd rock.

OP just learned what the 'con' in 'con man' is short for.

Because they don't want some of the money, or even enough of the money. They want all of the money, and think all you have to do is copy a successful game to get it.
