So bluesky isn’t free. And it’s American. Deleted my account yesterday.
Sadly, many people I know are staying there instead of figuring Mastodon or Friendica out.
Fun fact: if you mess up captcha verification (due to Internet connection or your human error) during account creation, your account gets instantly suspended and then you receive a shady email that is actually from Bluesky, saying you should send them via email a picture of your ID.
Should be noted that to my understanding it only restricts visibility of this account on the official bluesky client. And only inside turkey. the accounts are not banned. the owners can still access them.
And third party clients (which can ignore the moderation-labels) can still see and interact with those accounts just fine. even inside turkey.
It still sucks that they bend the knee though.
Switch to Mastodon.
This probably wouldnt make sense in a decentralized platform- oh
(Dunno if it's apparent, but this is a criticism to the bluesky platform being heavily centralized)

This thread is like talking to my father who insists that "mainstream media" is evil, while he watches Fox News and misses the irony entirely.
You get downvoted but you are right.
Social media is when the main subject is your social stuff. Like your person, your pictures, your opinions, etc.
Lemmy is a forum where we talk about subjects and don't share our social stuff by default.

That's hypocrisy, not irony.
