Contributing to !openstreetmap@lemmy.ml and reading books

[-] puppy@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Productive: Maps, check the stock market, read non fiction/Wikipedia, pay bills, translate voice or text written in a foreign language, use as a bike computer or GPS tracker, hail a ride/taxi, rent a bike, communicate with people.

Fun: Read books/comics, amateur photography/videography, puzzles, listen to music.

Purposefully left out apps that cause doomscrolling and addiction.

pay bills

I don't trust the phone browser anymore after I had it crash during a payment. The money was sent, but the token wasn't sent back to the website.
Thankfully we now have instant bank transfers, so the state of the browser doesn't matter.

Anyway, I still prefer to take out the laptop for serious stuff like payments.

Big purchases must happen on big screen.

Yes, addiction is not fun. Reddit is not fun and neither is using drugs.

look up gifs of how a human heart beats while your instructor tries their best to imitate it with their hands and a white board

[-] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works -1 points 2 weeks ago

I'd rather not.

Maybe the daily puzzle games are productive.?

[-] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 weeks ago

!dailygames@lemmy.zip yeah they're fun

I feel like I've done everything a phone can do at this point

[-] jabathekek@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 weeks ago

you could also use it as a blunt weapon

Yes, I was going to comment that they could smack a Nazi in the face with it.

[-] astrsk@fedia.io 3 points 2 weeks ago

Put it in a tube sock or pillowcase and increase the effectiveness!

[-] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 5 points 2 weeks ago

Turn it off and touch grass.

[-] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

I'd rather ride past grass.

Audit your pics/videos if you don’t keep up with them and delete the ones you don’t need. I’ve been trying to trim them all down to free up storage space and then eventually back them up locally to a hard drive.

Mess with photos and stickers or make little movies with iMovie.
