Did lemmy.world admins remove the post? Or did a mod from nottheonion remove your post? The two actions are very different.
Mods from nottheonion removed the article. My point in referencing lemmy.world as a whole wasn't really to blame the admins, but just to point out that the instance for whatever reason has a consistent pattern of just really remarkably terrible moderation.
Admins there suprisingly reasonable but the mods are reddit zealots with narratives to shill
YDI. Mods didn't think it was a good fit, and they removed it without any drama or personal stuff.
Not only that, but you have been very vocal about your distaste of .world in the past. So not sure why you'd decide to post there since you dislike how the mods there act. Then you come here to complain that they act exactly how you say they always act.
Maybe I don't understand the concept of notheonion (although I thought did), but I didn't really understand how most what you wrote aligns with the removal your article (which I think wasn't justified).
The LLM article in particular seems to fit with the nottheonion concept, no?
I am genuinely curious.
[1] also seems to be not particularly relevant w.r.t. the removal of your article? Dumb tankie who probably doesn't even speak russian making claims about russia and NATO, seems reasonable to tell the individual to GTFO, no?
You may be right. I edited my post to remove a bunch of extraneous stuff and hopefully get to the point. Does it look a little more understandable now?
And yes it seems completely reasonable to roast the dumb tankie in this case. I was implying that maybe the actual reason for the deletion of the article, since "not onion-y" seems extremely farfetched as the reason, was to shut down the discussion of Russian propaganda and how to respond to it that was going on in the comments.
Maybe it sounds conspiratorial but I can't in any way wrap my head around "not onion-y" being the actual reason, and that's the only alternate explanation I can possibly conceive of.
As I mentioned I am not into the nottheonion community/concept, so maybe I don't know what I am talking about, but intuitively (for me) your line of thought does seem a bit conspirational. No disrespect, just sharing what's coming to my mind.
Maybe the mods thought that Trump's behaviour is already a norm, so there is a lack of comedy so to speak?
Btw, it's not my intention to defend the mods, never been to that community and it's not really my cup of tea.
I personally prefer a low touch approach to moderation, but I would also never mod a political community outside of some very specific cases.
your line of thought does seem a bit conspirational
100%
It definitely feels farfetched, I can see that.
Someone had come into the comments under my "not onion-y" post to do an unusually incompetent attempt at claiming the Ukraine war was all NATO's fault

Ye Power Trippin' Bastards
This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

Some acronyms you might see.
- PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.
- YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.
- YDM new - You Deserved More: The commenter thinks you got off too lightly.
- BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.
- CLM - Clueless Mod: The mod probably just doesn't understand how their software works.
