With The Pitt being a notable exception. Their character development is top-notch.
A good show will introduce you, one by one, and make it a nice experience.
What sucks is watching (or reading) something halfway into development. Or taking a break during which you forgot all the names and what their roles signify.
Or one that dumps dozens of characters on you in the first fifteen minutes, expecting you to remember who each of them is when they only get 30s of screen time.
