It's a rumour. Nothing else. Not even Apple knows what they'll release in 2 years.
I disagree that they don't know. This is the time to finalize what they want their 2027 iPhone to look like, especially if they're making bigger changes where development might not be as straightforward as the yearly iteration for most aspects.
Well, some people in the "inner circle" might have some idea about the direction they want to take. But I very much doubt that anyone outside of that circle knows anything substantial. And in the end, that website is called MacRumors for a reason. They splurt out various things to keep people speculating and engaging with their site - which earns them money. But that's about it. I've removed them from my feed reader ages ago.
Internally, their engineers need to know what they will be doing the next year or so. I'm not assuming any credibility for the leaks, just pointing out that it takes time until these things get on the shelves.
Lol. They can't even get rid of the camera dock and now all of a sudden they'll jump to no visible camera? I call BS on that.
They could remove the Dock. They just dont want to.
If you made a multiplayer Video game with a cult following, which cant compete even slightly to other, more modern games, would you a) just release all QoL and content stuff in a single big patch and have to compete with the better games, or b) drip feed your cult your updates slowly, doing a small update every 5 years and locking it behind a DLC, so you never have to worry about your users Adapting to modern standards and even seeing the others as an alternative?
Thats what apple is doing. If they would just add every single modern thing into a smartphone, other smart phones would start being competition, and worse, they would have to start innovating again. Instead, they are waiting years every time they do the slightest update to their design, making sure to alter the technology enough so consumers can't adapt to modern technology without having to learn how to use it from scratch.
Thank you sci-fi content.
Uh, like most modern phones?
Imo, the usability of fingerprint in-screen dropped vs. fingerprint on the back. It just needs 3 tries each.single.time and hard to do with one hand (why at the bottom, not in the center, huh?). Bad enough for me to repair the display of my old Poco F1.
It's still working:
They breathe a slight breath, and everybody writes about it, and everybody reads about it...
Touch ID would be a nice addition and a great callback for a 20th anniversary edition.
Maybe the rest will finally follow suit when Apple drops the obnoxious cutouts and punchholes. can't wait to have more than 2 phones available again
i personally am more excited about their glasses
Lately apple has been on a bit of a losing streak imo. The only thing they are doing right are their M line chips.
