My SO has been playing this game called Dave the Diver, and it is truly a wild and weird game. You're a fat diver who loves sushi, you dive into a magical blue hole to collect fish during the day, and you work the bar at the sushi joint at night, you have a cell phone with games on it, you can play (yo dog I heard you liked games.meme), there is some weird stuff going on in the big blue hole, the weapon’s smith is a fat sweaty weeb. I plaid it a bit and It's pretty fun.
The new Hearthstone Battlegrounds patch has been live for about a week. Trinkets are back, which is OK, I think I like Anomalies more, but oh well. Plenty of shakeups in the various minion types. There is this new focus on scaling things that give stats. So you can scale Tavern Spells that normally give stats. Elementals, I think is the most interesting tribe, you scale the element's that give stats. So things like Party Elemental, which gives +1/+1 to a random Elemental you control, can be buffed so it gives more stats per trigger. Many minions that give specific spells as either a deathrattle or a battle cry. Most deathrattle minions also have battlecry now if they give a card, which, I think, is a good change. Mechs might be my second favorite thus far. Not many sweeping changes to the tribe over all, but there is a focus on end of turn effects that I like. The mech that magnetizes a random mech is pretty good. The magnetize mech that gives your other mechs +1 attack at the end of the turn is nice.
I did the bad update exploit on my 360 to play the last few games on 360 I could care about, mostly Japan-only shmups. So I'm in the process of trying to get the games all set up for it. It takes like 5-15 minutes per hack attempt and has a success rate of roughly 33% so it probably takes like 15-20 minutes on average just to get the 360 ready to do anything. Probably gunna' be so annoyed by the end of this that I don't actually end up playing anything. Main game I'd play is probably the Bangai O HD version that got delisted years and years ago. Also probably that unreleased GoldenEye HD remake that got leaked.
I downloaded mechwarrior 4 because I remember enjoying the campaign, it's abandonware
Waiting for the Stellaris update 4.0 (which is huge) and the Biogenesis Expansion this Monday. Gonna have breakfast in a bit.
I played through Deltarune Chapter 1 again and will be playing Chapter 2 soon in preparation of Chapters 3 & 4 releasing next month. I'm really excited, Undertale is my favorite game ever and Deltarune is on track to surpass it for me. Still though, I'm trying not to get my expectations too high lol. Otherwise, my roommate bought a guitar controller for Rock Band and is okay with me using it, so I spent a few hours tonight playing Guitar Hero II in an emulator. I never played this one, but I was addicted to Guitar Hero III as a kid, and this one is definitely hooking me too.
Continuing to grind away at Warframe. The grind is now down to 7* frames. The farms are:
-Caliban: Need 35 isoplasts that drop on average 2 per 10 minute bounty. Tedious but doable, already have all the blueprints
-Citrine, Jade, and Komei: each is an RNG drop from their respective mission that can also be bought with pity currency dropped from said mission. Of these, Citrine is far and away the worst, requiring 12 waves of defense per run (~22 minutes for a 6% chance and ~1/14th of the pity currency), Koumei is easy but boring (like 4 minutes for a 4% chance and 5% of the pity currency but it's the exact same every time and the infected are boring to fight), and Jade is easy but more fun (~5 minutes for a 5% chance and 2% of the pity currency, but you get to jump around with reduced gravity and have to hunt for the bonus beacons).
-Kullervo: Wait until Duviri is in the right Spiral, then go there and do a run, taking ~10-15 minutes. Have to do this 3 more times IIRC, which is fine, I just don't like Duviri.
-Protea: Each of the 3 part BPs are from a special mission you can only activate on a certain tileset after getting a special token from an NPC that spawns after several minutes. The mission itself is extremely boring and tedious, as well as being possible to actually fail, unlike most of the rest of these. I got one of the BPs after 3 hours, not looking forward to the other two.
-Sevagoth: Just need to actually do late-game Railjack Void Storms, which are doable, but super slow solo and not much faster with randos (not to mention Railjack's just very buggy in general). Need to drag my coworkers into this.
*I still need a bunch of oxium to actually build Styanax, though I have all the parts now.
The quest to figure out blue prince continues. I've pulled at most of the obvious threads and now it seems like it's mostly fairly esoteric puzzles that I might just look up guides online for. But I think I'm going to try and solve the sanctum puzzles and the 8 realms map first. It's slow going these days though usually only get about a day or two done in a session before I feel overwhelmed by it all.
I'm unwinding with towerborne, it's a beat em up by stoic, made Banner saga, and while it's nowhere near as interesting as banner saga, it's fun enough and has amazing art design around a fairly harmless live service wrapper. I don't think you should pay money for it, but it will be free to play at some point they say.
I finally finished the Hitman reboot series the last couple of weeks and have been playing some of the extra modes packed in with it, specifically 'Escalation.'
Basically you play on one of the big complicated maps but are going after just random people, so usually you don't have to get to the highest security areas. Instead it layers restrictions and objectives on you, like "kill this person while wearing this costume with that weapon." And when you succeed you go on to the next round with even more stuff, like "Now kill this other guy with a different costume and oh by the way you can't knock anyone out."
It very quickly goes from cakewalk to super challenge but with the iteration it feels manageable
Finished Clair Obscur at 12am. I liked it, but largely wanted to skip the combat by the last 2 acts. I did enjoy the story and the characters quite a lot, though. I wish it would explain why
lore spoiler
the gommage happens and why it counts down and why it takes people based on how old they are
super mega baseball 3 while listening to podcasts or videos. im in the finals playing as the Sandcats
back on the xenoblade x definitive edition
still enjoying it
Making some progress in Another Crab's Treasure New Game+. This shit is cracked and there is no way I will be able to finish the game, but I haven't hit anything insurmountable yet. Almost out of Slacktide.
I've been playing Clair Obscur as my solo game and Deep Rock Galactic with my group. Clair is incredibly atmospheric and I'm enjoying it even though it is a JRPG. DRG is not bad but pretty dated at this point, Helldivers 2 does the extraction shooter better imo.
unfortunately deep rock galactic locks some of its best gameplay elements behind aeons of RNG grind, if you haven't already I highly recommend just using a save editor to give yourself all of the overclocks lmao
the scout has some of my favorite movement mechanics in FPS history between the shotgun's special powder and the m1000's hoverclock, shit is like liquid crack and some of the shit I've pulled using them would have gotten me thrown into prison if this was a just world
This week it was a whole lot of Star of Providence. This game makes me feel like I did when I played the original Binding of Isaac the first time. It's great.
Team Fortress 2 as always for my comfort food. No end in sight for this one. Valve recently made TF2 source available which is cool and has led to some community fixes as well as people (hopefully soon) publishing their whole ass mods to steam (Team Fortress 2 Classic being the one I'm most interested in).
I downloaded and setup Horizon XI on linux in anticipation of some users possibly playing from here. I've never played before but played other brutally difficult/grindy MMOs in my youth (Tibia) so I'm sure it'll be up my alley if others do end up playing.
I've been wanting to play the Defiance reboot since that game strikes me as an intriguing jankfest, but proton has issues with how winsock is implemented so I can't actually play yet unfortunately. Maybe that gets resolved soon since it seeks like people have triaged the problem fairly well.
I tried Daemon X Machina which I was hoping might scratch the PSO itch and instead found a game with the campiest and worst writing/VA combo I can remember encountering. It was given away free on EGS a while back so check it out if you want to see something incredible. Actual gameplay is quite fun if not a bit easy currently.
