This is why I only eat weird chickens

[-] KiwiTB@lemmy.world 19 points 14 hours ago

There is nothing of note to this. It's a single study in a so so journal.

I'm aware of it's source, as stated this isn't a journal of high reputation. As I also started it's a single study which means nothing, it's dozens of large scale studies with replication which informs.

Ah, misunderstood you then.
Are there generally any methodical issues with the study in the end or is it a case of just being wary of the source?

Can't eat anything anymore

[-] Rodneyck@lemm.ee 7 points 14 hours ago

Plenty of veg alternatives.

[-] SirQuack@feddit.nl 1 points 14 hours ago

An overconsumption of only soy-based products can't be good either.

The cited source is a pro-vegetarianism site. That doesn't seem like the most objective of sources to cover this research.

Where are you getting overconsumption and why "soy only"?

Like.. Thats not the bulk of vegan food. Are you aware that more options than processed fake meat exist?

Also 300g of chicken would hardly classify as overconsumption would it?

this may be of use to you

They said “plenty of vegetable alternatives” not “eat only soy”

An overconsumption of only soy-based products can’t be good either.

I imagine you don't realize what a non sequitur that is. OP said eat vegetables. There is nothing wrong with soy, though. I especially enjoy edamame, tempeh, and tofu. Naturally, one should avoid all over-processed foods like many mock-meats, but even the worst are vastly preferable for health to actual meat.

Meat and dairy gets hundreds of millions combined from direct subsidy and promotion by US government agencies. A lot of money goes into advertising, covert PR, and selected research. If you're going to be suspicious of biased research, be sure to keep your eyes open for that.

i dont really like soy but i fucking love beans. i've even tried soy from dried and all that and I'd still rather have black beans. ever have black bean tofu? top tier.

[-] shapesandstuff@feddit.org 2 points 6 hours ago

Bean tofu rules. Had lentil tempeh the other day and that was so good too!
