It's good that they're out from under that thumb, but I don't really care for the crew they have anymore.
Agree. I discovered GB in 2014ish so for me the crew + beastcast from then until like 2018 will always be the peak for me. I follow nextlander and gerstmann on YouTube but don’t watch too much tbh. I’m less into the streaming style, 90% of the time back in the day I used to just listen to the two podcasts although for a brief time I was a subscriber.
I do really enjoy watching Jeff rank NES games. Any Nextlander content with Abby is also great. Vinny, Brad, and Alex just need a slightly higher energy pairing to get them all at their best.
Yeah they lost everyone that I cared about a long time ago. I have no idea who is even still there at this point.
most of those folks are doing their own things, but Ryckert is still there and some zombie-era people might be able to come back. Jeff Grubb seems alright, hopefully this process further radicalizes him.
Oh I like Dan. I forgot he came back.
I would pay my last dollar just to have have these people on a podcast again
I love GB, but there was something different about the nonsense Jeff and Vinny would feed each other

Back to basics
Hell yeah! Started fallowing these guys when Jeff was fired from GameSpot over the Kane and Lynch review. They started that podcast called Arrow Pointing Down which eventually became Giant Bomb. They've been ahead of internet trends for decades, but always under the boot of some investment scheme or corporation.
I wonder if Jeff would come back to GB or of that's all past him now.
Regardless, this is such awesome news!

he's doing well with his solo thing so i doubt it but i'd love that because he's way better in a group and he makes dan tolerable for me in a way that none of the east coast people managed to reproduce.
I still listen to gerstmann but I have to run the podcast at 1.6x speed with silence trimmed out due to him running solo. He really needs a co-host to bounce off of.
His best podcast episodes have been the rare Ben cohost or his recent appearance on VGBees.
I don't actually vibe much with Gerstmann's game preferences, but his industry knowledge and proximity to nonsense in all facets of his life makes him a great storyteller.
Hard agree to all of this. My tastes don't align with his in a lot of ways, but because he's so consistent on what he does and does not like, he's an excellent barometer for whether or not I will enjoy a game even if I have the opposite experience to his.
Tfw bo giant bomb to seize the mea s of production with
games
Tabletop, DnD, board games, and minecraft. Also Animal Crossing.
