says the literal grammar police

[-] ConstantPain@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

It's obviously photoshopped. What are you talking about?

[-] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world -5 points 2 months ago

So what? If you don't find it funny, downvote and move on. Quit whingeing!

[-] ConstantPain@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

So you're not just the grammar police, you're the comment section police as well...

Did you wake up this morning and thought to yourself "I'm going to pick the most inane hill to fight for today"?

[-] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

I was gonna ask why are you being a Constant Pain, but then it hit me.

Good one, but it's harder to catch than the first guy's pun with the piss off.

[-] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I'm so sad to see people missing the pun and down voting...

You got an audible grunt from me with that one sir, good job!

[-] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Glad at least one person could get it :)

[-] untorquer@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

Compression so garbage can't tell if it's from ps or a label maker sticker.

[-] ConstantPain@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I give you that, can very much be!

[-] untorquer@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Sticker would be so much better... I think I need a label maker now 🤣

4U2PN2 - "for you to pee into"

The serial number is on a urinal.

[-] DrBob@lemmy.ca 45 points 2 months ago

Thank you. They should make that a fake serial number on all of them and put the real one on the back.

[-] JoeyHarrington@lemmy.ca 45 points 2 months ago

Narrator: that's what they did

[-] DrBob@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 months ago

Glad to know I am as dumb as advertised.

[-] JoeyHarrington@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 months ago

Nah, I'm just sceptical of everything and assume things are intentional

[-] stebo02@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 months ago

thought you called yourself a man-idiot

[-] DrBob@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 months ago
[-] _g_be@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

"Eli, Man-Idiot, at your service"

[-] Someplaceunknown@lemm.ee 26 points 2 months ago

It’s beautiful

[-] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 19 points 2 months ago

I was today years old when I realised Americans have to manually flush their urinals. It’s basically half the advantage gone.

[-] StrawberryPigtails@lemmy.sdf.org 15 points 2 months ago

Depends where you are and how old the place is. Newer places (last 15ish years or so) will have the auto flush toilets but most businesses only upgrade the bathrooms when things brake.

[-] tomenzgg@midwest.social 3 points 2 months ago

Not if the office building is constructed with mobile capabilities.

[-] gandalf_der_12te@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 months ago

No they meant brake. Like, the urinal's smooth and continued function brakes. Comes to a halt.

[-] Lesrid@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

I'm pretty sure most places outside the US just use the huge metal trough that the US seems to reserve for stadiums

[-] Remavas@programming.dev 1 points 2 months ago

Where did you get this information from?

[-] Kbobabob@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

I'm curious where you're from that every single urinal in the whole country has been upgraded.

[-] Dontfearthereaper123@lemm.ee 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I'm from Ireland but pretty much any country I've been has all been automatic urinals

[-] vaionko@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 months ago

I haven't seen a manual flush urinal in Finland in years either

[-] stebo02@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 months ago

I live in Belgium and the last time I remember having to flush one of these was at least 10 years ago without exaggeration

[-] MeThisGuy@feddit.nl 1 points 2 months ago

and zero flush toilets exist in the wonderful benelux

[-] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

I assume that in Benelux, they're all just using squat toilets that have to be rinsed out with a bucket of water?

[-] MeThisGuy@feddit.nl 2 points 2 months ago

nah, we have those wonderful german poop shelf toilets so we can analyze our excrement

[-] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 4 points 2 months ago

I have never seen a manual urinal in Britain. Never.

[-] biggerbogboy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

I'm from Australia and it's been like 8 years since I've manually flushed

[-] Acamon@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

It's not even upgrade, even twenty years ago, most of them were either always rinsing or on some sort of intermittent timer. I guess when they were just a big communal trench it didn't make sense for them to be flushed by an individual. (UK / various Europe)

[-] gmtom@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

In the UK all the urinals in the bathroom will be flushed automatically at the same time using an auto-syphon that is attached to a tank that's slowly and continuously filled with water.

So it requires no moving parts or electricity, and flushes automatically at a regular interval depending on how fast the water supply is.

And it's been that way basically forever.

[-] Kbobabob@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

That's awesome! Do you by chance know what they are called? I did a quick search but all I see are electronic ones.

[-] gmtom@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

They're typically just called a "urinal automatic syphon"

Here's a great Steve Mould video on them if you want to learn more

https://youtu.be/XjQc8Bf0UlM

[-] Kbobabob@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Thanks. I love Steve Mould.

[-] Psythik@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

Sounds like a waste of water. Why not simply use motion sensors or flushless urinals like they do in the US?

[-] gmtom@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

The modern ones do, this was the solution before motion sensors

[-] zjti8eit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 months ago

Probably less than half of them

[-] BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Once I did my business at a public urinal in Texas and was walking away and then as I was washing my hands this old white guy that went to use the urinal after me gave me a dirty look. And only then did I realize that it was not a self flushing urinal, like it's been so long since I've seen one that it needs to be manually flushed that I didn't even consider that.

[-] Psythik@lemm.ee 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

We do? Urinals with manual flush are rare. These days there's either a motion sensor, or a flushless urinal installed.
