The problem with $10 million homes is that people who buy them can afford to build their own $10 million homes. Because of that, they are worth less than people think.

The story I heard was that at least two people went broke trying to build a super mansion on 10 acres of prime beach front property. The final guy swooped in and brought the half made house so he could resell the land in smaller lots. He got the castle demolished for free by making a deal with a Hollywood studio.
