Trump is a symptom of a much, much larger systemic issue that has been on slow burn for decades, but the thing that Trump does that no one else can do is have such a massive fanatical fanbase. If the bullet fired at him last year had hit him between the eyes and killed him before he hit the ground, it would not solve the problem, but it would have abso-fucking-lutely had a massive effect on everything. It would have hindered their ability to go forward with a lot of shit since his fanbase would have been heavily divided. Trump's attribute is that he is the glue that keeps their movement together, but not the actual mover of that movement. Trump doesn't have beliefs. He does not give a fuck about anything other than himself. He does not care about his children, grandchildren, wife, ex-wives/mistresses, his country, his friends (whom he does not have).
