  • Brush: Muninn Woodworks w/AP Shave Co 24mm Titanium Synthetic
  • Razor: Weck Sextoblade
  • Blade: Kismet (1)
  • Lather: Chicago Grooming - AG 1889 - Soap
  • Post Shave: Chicago Grooming - AG 1889 - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Thayers - Cucumber - Toner

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Wonderful shave today. The limited release of AG 1889 was a real gift to r/Wetshaving. Such a great scent for all times of year.

I bowl lathered today which is not my custom and used a slightly modified version of @sgrdddy's "slurry lather" in order to keep the lathering portion of the video reasonable.

Thanks! Probably a one time occurrence.

  • Blade: Personna P74 (84)

June 7th, 2025: Small Business Saturday

  • Brush: Rubberset - 400 w/ Maggard SHD Badger
  • Razor: Schick - Injector
  • Blade: Schick Yellow
  • Lather: Summer Break Soaps - Rookie of the Year 2024 - Soap
  • Post Shave: Catie's Bubbles - V - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Catie's Bubbles - V - EdP

Daily Theme Justification: As today calls, we are supposed to use something small batch. HOW ABOUT ONLY SIX TUBS EVER MADE???. Sorry u/rocketk455 for leaking super secret files from last year's ROTY 2024 Research & Development.

Daily Theme: I was super excited last year to learn that my scent profile was chose last year and that I was going to be receiving a tub of ROTY 2024. The chef at Summer Break Soaps was super easy to work with and excited to help it come to life, so whoever wins it this year is in for a treat! The notes are lemon, lavender, cardamom, and vetiver. I would say it has a fairly unique scent profile, but it is relatively approachable. The closest thing I could match for splash and frag is V from our friend u/C_Bubbles. I ended up looking at the notes from V and noticed that it also contains lavender, cardamom, and vetiver. Maybe my rookie nose actually knows what a good fragrance, since a master chef of fragrance himself him used the same notes in one of my favorite fragrances (I had zero idea of what I was putting together last year).

Daily Challenge: I bowl lathered today. I really dislike bowl lathering and almost always end up ruining the lather. Today was no different. I almost always end up putting too much water in or aerating it too much. I will likely never learn because it is too much work for a lesser quality lather. It simply does not mater what soap or brush I use. Back to face lathering tomorrow. It was also nice to get a shave in today in my bathroom and not on a lake.

Bowl lathering is the worst

Small Business Saturday: Day 7 of Lather Games

  • Brush: Zenith r/Wetshaving exclusive MOAR BADGER (Silvertip) #SUBBROOSH
  • Razor: Koraat – r/Wetshaving exclusive Moarteen (15/16", full hollow, carbon steel)
  • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts and Chatillon Lux – La Forêt de Analingus for Excellence in Shitposting
  • Post Shave: Southern Witchcrafts and Chatillon Lux – La Forêt de Analingus for Excellence in Shitposting
  • Fragrance: Southern Witchcrafts and Chatillon Lux – La Forêt de Analingus for Excellence in Shitposting

Theme justification: This trickhole is a batch of 1 and as such the smallest batch I own. The brush is a reknotted sub-exclusive MoarBoar, and as such a sub-exclusive MoarBadger of a batch of 1. The razor is one of a batch of 50 sub-exclusive Moarteens.

Challenge: I'm usually a face latherer, so I went with the bowl this time and promptly underestimated how much soap the MoarBadger eats. It's always fun to try to stick more soap to the bottom of a soapy wet lathering bowl 🥴

In the end, I did get a very passable bowl of lather, and a nice small Business Saturday shave, with products from 4 (5) small businesses: Chatillon Lux for the frag oil, Southern Witchcrafts for the soap, splash, and frag, Zenith for the brush handle, and Koraat for the razor. Finally, the badger knot was retailed by Maggard, but I don't know where it comes from.

Two days without shaving, and I was getting scruffy, and felt dirty. Absinthe always gives me a very slick and nice lather.

Have a good day!

  • Lather: Fanzine Saponifications - Almost there... - Soap

Theme justification: The Fanzine Saponifications soap is easily the smallest batch that I own. Really nice soap from our very own u/TheStallionPartThree. I'd say this second iteration of the base has better slickness and glide. Great stuff.

I also went with a RDC handle from the first or second drop from u/Priusaurus. It's one of my favorite handles. Finished the shave off with the sub-exclusive Seaforth! Leather splash and Polyphemus from GLHF Workshop (the early work of fragrance influencer u/pridetwo).

Also, my Moarteen is 1/50. Today was my 8th shave with the razor (and 8th shave with any straight razor), and it went swimmingly. I'm finally developing a system for approaching my face that seems to work for me.

Daily challenge: I usually face lather. I have a dedicated shave bowl, but it's mostly used for starting the lather for smushes and samples. So, for today's challenge I did my entire lather in the bowl. It was fine. Maybe it helped me be more precise with soap hydration? Either way, I'm not a convert. I'll stick to face lathering thank you very much.

The soap: Sandalwood, Oakmoss, Lavender, and Sweet Orange.

The splash: Leather, Cedar, Bergamot, Coriander, West Indies Bay, Musk

The fragrance: Bergamot, Lemon, Lavender, Jasmine Sambac, Cinnamon, Honey, Cashmere, Tobacco Leaf, Tonka Beans, and Vanilla.

The coriander, bergamot, and bay in the splash dance wonderfully with the smooth orange and sandalwood from the soap. Relaxing, comforting, and oh so smooth. This all slides into the honey, tobacco, tonka bean, and vanilla from the frag (a Xerjoff Naxos dupe). The progression is one of comfort and class. Very happy with this one.

$SELFCARE - even though I didn't want to, today I spent several hours today catching up on chores around our apartment. It's easy for things to slip when weeks get busy and my wife and I are both running on fumes. It's still important though to make time to care for your space. It's hard to feel good mentally when your physical space is a mess!
