ADHD is being intelligent and hard working but completely unable to decide a career path, so drifting through life into your 40s when you finally realise you have ADHD and have wasted the past 25 years.

Hey! We're not all hard working!

dude...

edit: I studied physics, quit, became a bass player, then a street musician playing percussion, then software developer, then translator, then studied classical music composition, then quit, then became conference interpreter, then learned neural networks and gave a seminar on using neural networks in contemporary music at Ircam Paris in 2018, then went back to studying composition at the university. This year I will finally graduate at 41. Hope to do my masters and become a college professor.

If you're my husband the key is apparently to marry an autist and let her manage all your projects.

Shit gets done.

Its me, I'm the autistic wife to a completely dysfunctional ADHD husband. I am tired. Tell her thank you.

[-] crunchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 7 hours ago

My autistic wife is the reason our home hasn't inexplicably burned to the ground!

Is this blessed autist PM hiring any new ADHD devs???

That sounds more like depression to me?

But in my ADHD experience: I'd think of 1000 fun things to do, but do some minor hyperfixation thing(s) and then it's 3am and I did nothing I should have done or actually wanted to do 😵‍💫

It can go both ways. If it goes your way, I consider that a successful day. Its usually easier to just watch YouTube videos to no end instead of doing all the cool things you thought about.

My nemesis, choice paralysis, how you are the bane of my existence.

[-] Oneser@lemm.ee 22 points 1 day ago

Is this really an ADHD thing?

[-] kubica@fedia.io 40 points 23 hours ago

Executive dysfunction can be a symptom of other things but also ADHD.

[-] sgtlion@hexbear.net 2 points 14 hours ago

I think maybe literally every person I know does this

[-] watson387@sopuli.xyz 9 points 21 hours ago

It is for me.

[-] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 17 hours ago

This is me every weekend.

[-] SidewaysHighways@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Happened to me today!

ended up listening to loud music on the new home amplifier at least

[-] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 4 points 19 hours ago

Ooh, which one did you get?!

[-] asbestos@lemmy.world 6 points 17 hours ago

Please don’t answer or I’ll have to waste 3 days researching amplifiers

[-] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 6 points 17 hours ago

I’m looking forward to three days researching amplifiers!
