After I noticed Firefox has removed the Pocket branding but kept the Pocket stories, I also noticed the settings screen on the homepage no longer lets you disable sponsored stories or links.

Firefox 115:

Firefox 139:

You can still remove these advertisements, but you have to leave the homepage and dig through the settings to find that option.

You are not.

I also go so far as to completely remove the options for anything on home/newtab from the prefs page.

I didn't mind the shortcuts and such on a new tab page, but ads...just no.

I like multiple rows of shortcuts when they don't have ads in them

As long as this is optional and can be turned off, I think there are bigger problems right now. Its not optimal off course and it would be better to opt-in. At least there is the option to turn it off.

As long as it is not 100 % ass it is okay and also something something whataboutism, still better than...

Stop arguing like that. If it's bad, it's bad

yeah. from "not 100% ass" to the next "not 100% ass" we always end up in the enshittified mess we are right now.

we gotta learn to say no to shit.

Don't tell me how to argue and how i feel about it. Not everything is white and black. There is grey and color in between.
