Aljazeera using the correct word to describe what Isreal did.

Sadly they did not. Current headline says “Greta Thunberg arrives in Paris after deportation from Israel”

[-] FreeWilliam@lemmy.ml 30 points 3 days ago

Yep, the title is my summary

[-] UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Al least Greta states it the way your title was edited.

Qatar got some big military contracts from Israel recently they have to tone down their rhetoric a bit.

[-] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 19 points 3 days ago

Not sure if deportation is even the correct word as she was kidnapped and then transferred against her will. The correct term might be 'forcibly displaces'.

Kidnapped from the boat. Then forcibly displaced to another country.

[-] rumimevlevi@lemmings.world 6 points 3 days ago

Yes deportation imply that she entered israel illegally which is not true

[-] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 17 points 3 days ago

It was bad enough they were kidnapped, did they also have to send them to France

[-] Rom@hexbear.net 30 points 3 days ago

Now it's justified to bomb Israel until they release the hostages right?

[-] CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net 37 points 3 days ago

Deporting somebody you kidnapped in international waters from a country they did not go to or want to be in.

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 29 points 3 days ago

i wonder wtf france has to do with it, and what crime did she commit to be brought over in handcuffs

[-] PoopingCough@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

I'm not positive, but i believe the majority of their support team was in Paris so I'd guess that's why. Apparently they were given a choice between deportation and a trial and some of them basically had to be convinced to choose deportation so they could speak about their experiences.

How tf do you deport someone from international waters

[-] PoopingCough@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Well they took them to Israel first but yea i agree

[-] rumimevlevi@lemmings.world 17 points 3 days ago

Guys don't forget about the other kidnapped activists

[-] IttihadChe@lemmy.ml 17 points 3 days ago

8 are still being held. I'm most worried about Rima Hassan as she's a Palestinian and still being held.

[-] Goretantath@lemmy.world 27 points 3 days ago

Oh wow, the ACTUAL news title people should be using!

[-] FreeWilliam@lemmy.ml 13 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Yeah lol I got flamed for using the actual article's headline last time Never doing the mistake of spreading the "unbiased" propaganda headline again

[-] Hawke@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

It’s a tough balance… tough to show the reality but also show how the perception is being manipulated in reporting.

[-] FreeWilliam@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 days ago

True, very true

[-] bus_factor@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Isn't it more human trafficking than deportation if they kidnapped her in international waters and moved her to a different country?

In the interview, she is asked about the other crew members. She states that she hasn't been able to get into contact as they were put into individual cells, and the crew wasn't given the proper freedom to fully communicate with lawyers. This is not over. They merely release Greta first because she has a platform. She speaks into further detail about this in the interview, so I highly advise you watch it.
