I was told there were terrorist bunkers under that hospital. Why would IDF hide like this?

[-] Madison420@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago

You're joking but there is a near certainty there are actually bunkers under there, almost all the ritzy areas and public areas have bomb shelters which are in fact bunkers. It's why Israel knew there were tunnels under that hospital in Gaza they made a big deal over because they built them for the workers who built the hospital which they later admitted but never actually backed off the claim deserted dusty tunnels were just housing a terrorist command center.

But only when its not Israel bombing hospitals, its a war crime right?

[-] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

This is true of every war I can think of. Even Russia is trying to act like the good guy in the war they started. TBF, every side thinks they are the good guy. Which logically just can't be true.

"We are just there for sightseeing but these 300 Spartans are bullying us" - Xerxes.

[-] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Thankfully they found a friendly person to show them a way through the mountains. Unfortunate that all those Spartans were never heard from again though. Such a tragedy.

Russia bombed plenty of hospitals as well, and that was widely condemned. The only countries that are allowed to bomb hospitals are the US and Israel.

And even though it's understandable that Iran would bomb a hospital in retaliation of Israel bombing one of theirs, it's definitely not a smart thing to do, given how things like that play in the Western media.

In addition to it always being a war crime of course, regardless of context.

I'm just trying to clarify when it is and is not a war crime. Bcz some people seem to think it's not a war crime at all. It confuses me, and I just have to sit here and wait for someone to tell me when its good and when its bad, so I know how to feel about innocent injured people in a hospital getting bombed to all hell. Honestly, its baffling how anyone keeps all this stuff in their head all at once.

It's always a war crime. People will argue there's exceptions (Hamas tunnels, etc), but those conditions are never met in reality.

[-] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Maybe...but only if Fox News tells me its a war crime.

I want to be on the side of not killing civilians...

It is sad to see politics come before protecting life. People can be so unempathetic.

[-] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Yeah, I agree. It's a always bad. War fucking sucks. I'd like to go back to the days when politicians had to go to war with their armies, so they might think twice before starting wars. Not that it stopped people in the past, but im fairly certain there were no world wars back in the days before planes and bombs could be dropped.

[-] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

Honestly I think people skip over the human aspect

Bombing a hospital in retaliation does nothing but kill innocent people. The people in that hospital have no control over Israel. Responding to murder with more murder doesn't help anyone.

[-] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 0 points 3 days ago

Both can be war crimes

Anyone who knowingly targets civilians is in violation of international law

[-] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Are you sure? Fox News hasn't told me how to feel yet.

Is this how Israelis finally learn what they’ve been doing to others is not OK?

[-] banshee@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

They've heard that whole pot and kettle thing, right?

[-] stink@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 3 days ago

Gonna be honest.

"War crimes" are just fragile treaties made by two parties on what not to do.

They bombed Gaza's hospitals for nearly two years now, because they knew Hamas wouldn't be able to do the same thing.

Now they cry when another party is able to?

I hope they rot.

No one is shocked by Isntreal making a statement like this, it's what they do. It's the western governments' propaganda media reporting of it as 100% true, while providing zero context for how it could happen, that makes my blood boil.

[-] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip -1 points 3 days ago

Honestly I condemn anyone who attacks a hospital. Israel started it but two wrongs don't make a right. Innocent people just get killed.

[-] voodooattack@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

two wrongs don’t make a right

I think that once genocide is on the table, all considerations no longer apply

[-] Xavienth@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 3 days ago

Yeah I'm sure at least some of the people in the hospital weren't Israeli
