List of current banking app compatibility with Graphene OS

For anyone not aware of this it is a good resource.

[-] pfr@lemmy.sdf.org 9 points 1 day ago

If you're still using stock Android then I'm sorry to say that your efforts are somewhat wasted.

Please try GrapheneOS.

As for a free VPN alternative, check out URnetwork.

Have you changed android for a degoogled OS ?

[-] Verax@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Not for now. Want to have my appsuite ready for it. Also banking app is a problem.

[-] cathfish@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

I also used a custom rom. But after rooting android some apps will not work anymore. Mainly apps like Microsoft. Or okta. Or these stupid apps I need for work, which is detecting a rooted android somehow.

Use Shamiko (magisk module), XPrivacyLua and HideMyApplist (lsposed modules) (lsposed is a magisk module)

Proton vpn is without cost for one device.

Im really struggling what to do with android itself...

Best option I've found is GrapheneOS (I have a Pixel 7 which I bought second hand so Google don't get any additional money). Still Android but gives you more control over the data Google can see/use. Gives a sandboxed play store and services so banking apps still work fine.

Same. Banking apps are a problem. I wish there were proper Linux phones. Or nothing make there own os.

[-] Scolding7300@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Are banking websites a good replacement?

Anything here? Not sure, don't have an Android anymore. 10/10 would GraphineOS if I was in the market for a new phone however.

For a browser, Waterfox and Ironfox are better alternatives. Don't forget extensions. Might as well have Brave as a backup if you need a Chromium browser.

[-] Stomata@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

I like ironfox but I have cromite if ironfox breaks

[-] melroy@kbin.melroy.org 2 points 2 days ago

I indeed use waterfox. I can recommend it.
