SD 7+ gen 2 is a beast. It can go toe to toe with SD 8 gen 1.
thanks for this
That page lists the Tensor above the Tensor G2. That seems wrong. And I think they're both overrated compared to SD. I'm on a Pixel 7 (Tensor G2) and came from a SD855. My old phone was generally faster, particularly in games.
Most chips should be better by now I bet.
From my experience, SD 888 and 8 Gen1 suck (run very hot), but 8+ Gen 1 and 8 Gen2 are awesome
Yeah I remember some old gen flagship socs suck. So I should stay away from sd 888 and 8gen1. Thanks.
If you want flagship the 8+1 and the 8g2 are great battery champs any phone that has either last a long time if you want something a bit lower the 7+g1 is also great imo
Found this from other people on discord (pickAnAndroidPhoneForMe)
good chipsets
Dimensity 7200 ultra, 8020, 8050, 8100, 8200, 9000, 9200
SD 782G, 7gen1, 7 gen+2, 870, 8gen plus 1, 8 gen 2.
(stay away from 888, 888+, and 8 gen1 because thermal issues)
how reliable is that list?
Is consider what runs on those chipsets and how long their software support is as equally or even more important than the chipsets themselves. E.g. now we have Tensor G3 devices that run near-stock Android with 7 years of support. Tensor G1/2 have 5 years. Critically this software support translates to third party Android OSes too as they can grab the latest vendor source and firmware from the stock ROMs and use it in their own.
